The Mantis Shrimp boss is a part of the “Stormy Night 2” side quest, which takes place during a stormy night after completing the “Revenge Time!” main mission in Chapter 3. Once you complete this mission, here’s what you need to do to encounter Mantis Shrimp:
- Receive a notification about a new giant creature in the vortex.
- Follow the marker to the locaton of the vortex.
- Explore the hideout to awaken the Mantis Shrimp.
I must warn you that the Mantis Shirmp will only appear during a stormy night, so if the weather wasn’t fitting the first time around, you can always return here and try again.
How to Beat Mantis Shrimp
The Mantis Shrimp is a giant prawn boss who wears boxing gloves. It uses the gloves not only to punch Dave the Diver but also to cover its eyes, its most vulnerable spot. Here’s how you can easily defeat Mantis Shrimp:
- Stay as far away from the shrimp’s reach as possible.
- Use the lever on top of the ceiling to raise the boxing pear, which will prompt the boss to hit it.
- Once the shrimp hits the boxing pear, it’ll reveal its eyes for a moment.
- Use this window to shoot straight into its eyes.
- After seven precise shots in the shrimp’s eyes, it’ll be defeated.
Once the Mantis Shrimp boss dies, it will drop ingredients for crafting the Death Rifle, which has the following recipe:
- 1 Underwater Rifle III
- 1 Opal Tube
- 1 Mantis Shrimp Tail
- 25 Topaz
- 5,500 Gold
