Destiny 2 God Roll Guide: How to Get Rufus’s Fury Auto Rifle

Rufus's Fury is one of the best Auto Rifles available in Destiny 2. Here's how to get it and the god rolls you want.

Strand weapons were in short supply at the beginning of the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion, and that’s changing the more content releases. One of the best Strand weapons currently available is the Rufus’s Fury Auto Rifle. Thanks to its fantastic perk pool, deep magazine, and the ability to craft one for enhanced perks, you’ll definitely want one for your collection. Here’s how to get it and the god rolls you’ll want.

How to Get the Rufus’s Fury Auto Rifle

There is only one place to get a Rufus’s Fury in Destiny 2: as a reward from the Root of Nightmares Raid. Specifically, it’s available from the third encounter, Planets, and the final encounter against Nezerec. It’s a random drop from both, so there’s no guarantee you’ll get one, no matter how many times you have a chance.

However, every time one does drop, it can also come as a Deepsight red-border version. Get five of those across multiple Raid completions, and you can craft a Rufus’s Fury that can eventually get enhanced versions of its best perks.

You can also get an Adept version of the weapon from the Master-difficulty version of Root of Nightmares. The main difference between the two types of weapons is that only Adept weapons can take Adept mods, which are better versions of the standard mods you can normally equip.

Adept weapons can now be upgraded with enhanced perks, making them technically better (with the right mods) than crafted weapons. The main disadvantage is you can’t choose which perks you get on them, meaning you’re beholden to RNG. With crafting, the choices are yours.

Rufus’s Fury God Rolls for PvE and PvP

Rufus’s Fury is a solid weapon in both PvE and PvP, though it shines brighter against the enemies of humanity. Auto Rifles have always occupied a weird space in the Crucible, and still do, especially with The Immortal rolling around. Still, with the right rolls, Rufus’s Fury can compete with almost any of the top-tier options available today.

Rufus’s Fury PvE God Roll

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake, Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds, Light Mag, High-Caliber Rounds
  • Trait 1: Reconstruction, Rewind Rounds, Demolitionist
  • Trait 2: Target Lock, Hatchling, Frenzy

Rufus’s Fury’s greatest weakness is its controllability, so anything you can do to help that aspect is ideal. Weapon uptime is not a problem usually, but Rufus’s perk pool lets you give it an almost endless output.

Arrowhead Brake and Richochet Rounds give the weapon some extra Range and Stability. Still, the real winners here are the likes of Reconstruction and Target Lock for incredible damage ramp-up and seemingly bottomless magazines. Hatchling and Demolitionist are also fantastic for Grenade-centric Strand builds.

Rufus’s Fury PvP God Roll

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake, Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds, High-Caliber Rounds
  • Trait 1: Perpetual Motion, Moving Target
  • Trait 2: Target Lock, Tap the Trigger

PvP encounters demand additional responsiveness and controllability, and both Perpetual Motion and Moving Target reinforce your need to stay active while providing benefits for doing so.

Target Lock makes the weapon more powerful the longer you hit an enemy, and the ramp-up begins as soon as your first bullet connects. Tap the Trigger offers some initial controllability if staying accurate is more immediately important than damage.

If you have the ability, we highly recommend getting a good Rufus’s Fury Auto Rifle. The Root of Nightmares Raid is one of Destiny 2‘s most accessible, with rewards worth your time.
