Is it out of order to say Destiny 2 was probably the most anticipated game of the year? Oh sure, the series has its haters — any AAA outing is going to collect them — but this sure feels like the “take time off work” gaming event of the year.
In case you somehow missed it, this Destiny sequel was also unfortunately a maze of digital and physical pre-order nonsense, with a bunch of extras available depending on where you spent your money. One such item is the kill-tracker ghost, which stores and displays your campaign and crucible kills.
If you were one of the many fans who pre-ordered the game, you might be having a little bit of trouble accessing the kill-tracker ghost and a few other exclusive items. In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll go over how you can get your gear.
Unlocking The Kill-Tracker Ghost in Destiny 2
So you pre-ordered your copy of the game ahead of time like a good consumer. You entered in all your codes digit by painstaking digit. But still no kill tracker shows up. What gives?
Before you panic, you’ll want to make sure that your specific pre-order option actually included this bonus feature. Some retailer-specific pre-orders (rather than digital bundles through a service like the Playstation Network) included the salute emote instead of the kill tracker ghost — which frankly isn’t as cool.
If you’re certain that your pre-order bonuses should include this tracker, then you probably don’t have it because it isn’t been made available yet. So it’s time to hurry up and wait. The kill tracker ghost is not a freebie that is available immediately after installing all those extra gigs of non-disc content and loading up the game.
To pick it up, you’ll have to do two things:
- Complete the Red War base story campaign
- Get your character level up to the cap of 20
Once that grinding task is done with, head over to the hangar in the Farm Social Space and chat with Lord Shaxx to get your nifty new kill tracker!
That isn’t the only pre-order goodie you can’t access immediately, though. The same process goes for the Coldheart exotic trace rifle, which is also locked until you’ve finished the campaign and hit level 20.
