Destiny 2 Lightfall: Stargazer Quest Walkthrough Guide

Start the path toward the Winterbite Exotic with the Stargazer quest, the first part of a long quest chain in Destiny 2 Lightfall.

The post-campaign content in Destiny 2 Lightfall is by far the best you’ll find in the expansion, and the Stargazer quest is just one example. It’s an early part of a long questline that eventually awards the Winterbite Stasis Exotic Heavy Glaive. It’s one of the easiest due to its earlier position in the chain. You won’t need to go far; provided you can find active Terminal Override activities; you’ll be done quickly.

How to Complete the Stargazer Quest in Destiny 2 Lightfall

The most challenging part of Stargazer is Terminal Overload, and only because it’s getting increasingly difficult to find an active lobby with so many players surfing for free end-of-activity chests. For now, you’ll need to do the same or go in with a fireteam, and people will likely join you soon after you start the Overload.

Stargazer Step 1: Loot the basic Terminal Overload reward chest

You won’t yet have any Terminal Overload Keys at this point, so all you need to here is participate in a completed Terminal Overload and open the basic chest that doesn’t require a Key.

Stargazer Step 2: Defeat the Vex Hydra in Esi Terminal

If you’re not already there, head to the Zephyr Concourse section of Neomuna, and follow the road to the west (to the right if you’re coming from Nimbus). You’ll eventually reach a space you came to early in the Lightfall campaign. A yellow-bar Hydra will be marked on your HUD, surrounded by a few Vex mobs. Destroy it, and you’ll obtain a high-security passcode.

Stargazer Step 3: Obtain a Terminal Overload Key

You get Terminal Overload Keys in three main ways: completing public events, looting chests, or completing patrols. You aren’t guaranteed a Key from any of them save the Nimbus Daily Bounty you earn at reputation level 13. Do a few Patrols, open any randomly spawned chests you find, and you’ll get a key quickly enough.

Stargazer Step 4: Use a key to open a Terminal Overload Key Chest

Back to Terminal Overload, you go, and this time you need to use the Key to open the second chest. Once you do that, the challenging parts of the Stargazer quest are done.

Stargazer Step 5: Repair Stargazer’s Memorial

Head back to the Hall of Heroes and reassemble Stargazer’s memorial. You’ll get a brief bit of dialog, then progress to the final step.

Stargazer Step 6: Return to Quinn

Return to the archivist for more lore, and you’ll unlock the Maelstrom quest portion of the chain.

That’s all there is to the Stargazer quest in Destiny 2 Lightfall. It’s an excellent introduction to some of the post-campaign activities. The Maelstrom, Bluejay, and Strider quests will ask much more of you, so check out our guides to those for more details. For more on Lightfall and D2 in general, head to our guides hub.
