Back in the original Destiny, the Matador 64 was known and feared across the PvP community, who collectively dubbed it the “Mapador” for its ability to seemingly one-shot any Guardian from insane distances. It came to Destiny 2 in the 30th Anniversary Collection, alongside other legendary armaments from the previous title, as well as new additions mimicking weapons from Bungie’s storied history with the Halo franchise. Here are the Matador 64’s god rolls so you can almost replicate its menacing reputation.
Destiny 2 Matador 64 God Roll Guide
How to Get the Matador 64 Shotgun
- The Matador 64 is only available as a reward from the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon, available only when you purchase the 30th Anniversary Collection DLC.
- Even with god rolls, this is a weapon best suited to PvP.
The Matador 64 is a possible drop from all three of the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon main encounters — the Orge, Fallen Shield, and Avarokk, the final boss — so farming it can boil down to just running the dungeon a lot. However, the Ravenous Orge encounter is by far the fastest and “easiest” to one-cycle, so almost every farm just does that fight over and over again.
There are no deterministic ways of getting the Matador 64, however, nor is there any path to the roll you want. Your only recourse is to hope RNG is on your side. Trust me, I’ve tried enough to know it’s probably not unless you have the luck of the gods.
Matador 64 God Rolls for PvE and PvP
The Matador is a PvP weapon no matter which game it’s in, and so while you can use it in PvE, I don’t recommend it. Its perk pool and dismally slow fire rate make it ill-suited to any activity that requires something resembling speed.
I’ll cover both sides of the content coin for the weapon, just know that using it against the enemies of humanity isn’t nearly as worthwhile as using it against other Guardians.
Matador 64 PvE God Roll
- Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
- Magazine: Tactical Mag
- Trait 1: Full Auto Trigger System
- Trait 2: Golden Tricorn
Everything above attempts to make the Matador 64 at least usable in a PvE situation. Full Auto and Golden Tricorn help its performance against tankier enemies, and both Corkscrew Rifling and Tactical Mag give it some additional sustained damage and handling ability.
Even with all these buffs, however, the gun still shoots painfully slow, and with Slug Shotguns still reigning supreme from a PvE damage meta standpoint, there’s little reason to use a Matador in such situations.
Matador 64 PvP God Roll
- Barrel: Barrel Shroud
- Magazine: Accurized Rounds
- Trait 1: Perpetual Motion
- Trait 2: Opening Shot
If you’re looking for a reason to use the Matador 64, look no further than the Crucible. A fully god-rolled version of the weapon is one of the best Shotguns in the game, bar none.
The D2 Matador might lack the (honestly busted) Shot Package Trait; both Perpetual Motion and Opening Shot come close enough to replicate the old perk’s effect. Accurized Rounds and Barrel Shroud push its Range even farther. Don’t expect quite the same insane plays that you might have been capable of in the original Destiny, but there aren’t many better options in Destiny 2.
That’s all you need to know about Matador 64 god rolls in Destiny 2. For more god roll content, check out our guides to the Imperial Decree, Circular Logic, Iterative Loop, and the Autumn Wind. Our D2 guides hub has plenty more.
