Those hoping for a new endgame challenge can look forward to a special dungeon event launching during Season 2: Season of Blood. This will be one of the game’s hardest challenges. Here are the details of the Abbatoir of Zir event in Diablo 4, including its start date and rewards.
When is the Diablo 4 Abbatoir of Zir Release Date?
The Abbatoir of Zir event begins on December 5 and lasts six weeks, ending on January 23, 2024. This coincides with the conclusion of Season of Blood. There are a few requirements that need to be met before you can actually head to Abbatoir of Zir, however.
How to Participate in Abbatoir of Zir Event
If you want to face the perils of Abbatoir of Zir, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:
- Be Level 100.
- Have finished all chapters of the Season Journey.
- Have defeated Uber Duriel.
- Have crafted the Bloodforged Sigil at an Occultist.
- The Tier 1 crafting cost is 60,000 gold.
- Tier 1 requires Sigil Powder x800.
- Have used the Sigil in Ked Bardu and entered the Visceral Channel.
How the Abbatoir of Zir Works
When you get into the dungeon, you’ll only have 10 minutes to defeat as many enemies as possible. Players can compare this to the Greater Rifts of Diablo 3. The goal is to kill a bunch of mobs, summon the boss and slaughter it, all within the window of time given.
Each enemy slain fills your progress bar, with mobs ranging from Blood Reavers, Nangari Rattlejaws, Storm Wargs, and more. You’ll also be affected by Afflictions, which are listed on the Bloodforged Sigil you created. When the bar is filled, you can summon three Blood Seekers, referred to as the Guardians, who act as the dungeon boss. You’ll need to defeat them within that same 10-minute limit.
You can repeat the dungeon up to 25 times, with a new Bloodforged Sigil recipe for the next level given after victory. Each attempt increases in difficulty, ending at Tier 25, which, by the sound of it, appears impossible to beat. There are no respawns available, so be careful when deciding to enter any dungeon tier, especially if you’re running a Hardcore character. Even if you go in as a group, once a single person dies, the run is over. I know I’m up for the challenge.
Abbatoir of Zir Rewards
Defeating the boss will reward you with a unique Paragon Board Glyph. As you continue to challenge the Abbatoir of Zir, you’ll be able to upgrade the glyph to Level 200. This will give you a huge boost moving into the next levels of the dungeon.
- Tears of Blood
- Radius Size: 4
- Next Radius increase at Level 50
- Bonus
- For every 5 Core Stats purchased within range, you get 2%[X] increased damage.
- Grants +50% bonus to all Rare nodes within range. Bonus increases by 10% every 10 levels.
- Radius Size: 4
As stated above, you’ll also earn the next tier of Bloodforged Sigil crafting. Tears of Blood and the Bloodforged Sigils earned are only available during Season of Blood. I find that little bit of news rather unfortunate, but I’m betting there will be other similar events to buoy Season 3 when that drops.
Each tier of Abbatoir of Zir rewards a massive amount of Glyph experience and it isn’t required to level up your Tears of Blood. If you’re looking to flesh out a different character or class build, you can spend that on those relevant glyphs. These improvements will remain after the end of season unless they are on Season of Blood specific glyphs.
That’s what we currently know about the Abbatoir of Zir event in Diablo 4. Depending on the success of the event, the dev team may work on including it in future seasons. Patch notes for the update will be available on the D4 website December 1 for us to review.
