What is the Best Necromancer Golem in Diablo 4? Answered

Before we talk about the best Diablo 4 Necromancer Golems, let’s talk about how to get them. If you already know, skip ahead. If not, here are the details.

Necromancer Golems are unlocked via the Call of the Underworld quest, which becomes available at Level 25. However, only the Bone Golem can be selected at the start. The Blood Golem and Iron Golem require you to reach Level 28 and Level 32, respectively.

In any case, below, I’ve listed down the capabilities of each summon. I’ve also noted the best Necromancer Golem in Diablo 4 after having played the class extensively during the beta and review periods.

Blood Golem

  • Available: Level 28.
  • Specialty: Drains life from nearby enemies to heal itself.
  • Option 1: Absorb 15% of the damage that you would take.
  • Option 2: While healthy, the Blood Golem gains +25% damage reduction and +50% increased damage.
  • Sacrifice: +10% maximum life; unable to summon Golems.

Personally, I consider the Blood Golem to be the best Necromancer Golem in Diablo 4. This is primarily due to sustained damage. Because it can drain the HP of nearby hostiles to heal itself, its second perk has near-100% uptime. You’ll always have a creature battering down foes, while your skeletal minions work as a pack.

Iron Golem

  • Available: Level 32.
  • Specialty: Does an AoE ground slam that can stun enemies.
  • Option 1: Every fifth ground slam causes a shockwave that deals damage to surrounding enemies.
  • Option 2: The slam attack also makes enemies vulnerable for three seconds.
  • Sacrifice: +30% critical strike damage; unable to summon Golems.

The Iron Golem is quite strong in its own right, especially with its second perk. It synergizes well with Blood Surge (i.e., Blood Nova) due to the AoE vulnerable debuff, followed by the AoE nova. However, if you have the right Legendary Aspects, your Cold Skeletal Mages will proc the debuff for you. The Sacrifice bonus, though, is also enticing, thanks to the massive critical strike damage boost. Unfortunately, roaming around without a Golem can be very risky.

Bone Golem

  • Available: Level 25; automatically unlocked once you complete Call of the Underworld.
  • Specialty: Taunts and tanks enemies.
  • Option 1: Shed a corpse each time the Bone Golem takes up to 20% of its maximum life in damage.
  • Option 2: +10% maximum life; inherits 50% of your Thorns value.
  • Sacrifice: +10% attack speed; unable to summon Golems.

The good thing about the Bone Golem is that its taunt ability can keep enemy aggro off you — sometimes. Other than that factor, this isn’t the best Diablo 4 Necromancer golem by far.

Those are the best Diablo 4 Necromancer Golem ranked based on my experience with the build in the game. You may find that this ranking list shifts around based on your playstyle and build, but overall, the Blood Golem is hard to beat.
