Wondering if Palworld has DRM or requires third-party services to play? Here's the answer.

Palworld’s mix of Pokemon gameplay and mechanics has taken fans by storm. Players looking to get in on the hype are wondering about third-party launchers besides Steam and digital rights. So does Palworld have DRM or require third-party services to play?

Can I Play Palworld Without Third Party Services?

You aren’t required to use third-party services to play Palword. You only need your Steam client or Game Pass account. The game launches directly from those launchers, and it’s available in offline mode as a fully single-player experience.

Essentially, this account is your user access and acts as your authentication to Palworld’s servers. As for the Epic Game Store, Palworld isn’t currently available there, though I should point out that this may change in the future along with crossplay support. As of now, the Palworld is only available on Steam, the Microsoft Store, and Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

Does Palworld Have DRM?

Palworld doesn’t have DRM, though Steam itself can be DRM. This is an important topic since Pocketpair is open to modding, and an official Palworld DRM would interfere with that. That said, if you install and launch the game through Steam, Palworld is DRM-free. Moreover, I confirmed you can indeed play the game in offline mode for a single-player experience, which is a good sign. The lack of DRM makes it easier to play the game on other operating systems like Linux, too.

Palworld doesn’t use Denuvo, either. Pocketpair hasn’t issued a statement in that department, so it’s safe to assume that’s the case. However, Denuvo can be implemented later down the line, so we’ll keep an eye open and notify you if that’s the case.

If you’re wondering if Palworld has DRM or requires third-party services to play, the answer is no to both. For more Palworld guides, check out how to fix the black screen on launch issue and how to find your IP for dedicated servers.
