Below, we’ll cover two different types of fish to look out for and how to catch them, why buying rods is important, how relics factor into making money, and more.

Tips for Getting Rich Quick in Dredge

Trophy Fish and Mutated Aberrations Explained

The main way of earning money in Dredge is to catch fish. And as you might expect, not all fish have the same values. The rarer, larger Trophy Fish are worth more money, as are the Mutated Aberrations you can find while fishing.

  • To find and catch Trophy Fish, press the interact button (F on PC, X on PlayStation, A on Xbox) in the gold segment of the fishing mini-game.
  • To find and catch Mutated Aberrations, find the fishing spots with sparkles.

Remember to keep your fish fresh, as they sell for a higher price. As soon as your cargo is full, head back to the dock to sell them.

Buy Fishing Rods

As the saying goes, you’ll need to spend money to make money in Dredge. Purchase rods for the Shallows and Oceanic fishing spots as soon as possible. These spots hold larger fish that sell for a higher price.

Complete Pursuits

Completing Pursuits is a surefire way to get more money quick — doubly so for the Fishmonger Pursuit. The Fishmonger will occasionally ask for specific fish for a client, and you can drop deliver them to him once you catch them for a pretty penny. You don’t need to have all the requested species at the same time to turn them in.

Dredge for Relics

Once you have the ability to dredge, you’ll discover lost items from time to time. Rings, old metal chains, and more are all profitable when sold to the merchant on Little Marrow. These items typically only take up one square in your cargo inventory, but you can also move them to your storage since you can sell them directly from storage to the merchant.

Avoid Taking Damage

Until you can afford a light, you’ll want to stick to fishing during the day. The minimal light you start with in Dredge makes it hard to avoid rocks in open waters. Damage to your hull costs $30 to repair each time, which can rack up quickly. Damage can also cause you to lose a fish if the hull becomes weak near your catch. In general, avoid heading into any tight areas so you can remain damage free.
