The hidden Flask of Wondrous Physick in Elden Ring does more than just heal. Here’s where to find it and the Tears that let you customize its effects.

Elden Ring: Flask of Wondrous Physick Explained

The hidden Flask of Wondrous Physick in Elden Ring does more than just heal. Here’s where to find it and the Tears that let you customize its effects.

A great way to get an extra healing item early in Elden Ring is to seek the Flask of Wondrous Physick. This flask takes up a slot similar to the flasks of Crimson and Cerulean Tears that recharge your health and FP. Unlike these, the Flask of Wondrous Physick has many different potential effects depending on what you want it to do and the resources available to you.

In this Elden Ring guide, we will tell you exactly where to find the Flask of Wondrous Physick, how it works, and the locations of the Crystal Tears used to upgrade it.

Where to Find the Flask of Wondrous Physick in Elden Ring

The Flask of Wondrous Physick can be found in East Limgrave, at the Third Church of Marika, north of Mistwood. There is a Site of Grace inside the church, right next to where you can pick up this important flask in a stone bowl. The flask is near the statue of Marika, to the left of the Site of Grace facing the bowl where you pick up the Flask of Wondrous Physick.

The best way to find it early in the game is to purchase the item notes on the Flask of Wondrous Physick from the merchant Kalé. He is located at the Church of Elleh, straight north from the First Steps starting area.

Once you’ve obtained the Flask of Wondrous Physick, you will also pick up the Crimson Crystal Tear that refills half your max HP. From here on, when you rest at Sites of Grace, you are given the option to mix Crystal Tears together (a maximum of two at once) indicated by the new menu option “Mix Wondrous Physick.” Part of what makes the Flask of Wondrous Physick so valuable is that it has not just one effect when used, but two effects at the same time

Now, the only thing left to do to optimize your Wondrous Flask is to search for more Crystal Tears.

Where to Find Crystal Tears for the Flask of Wondrous Physick

It is worth noting that the Flask of Wondrous Physick doesn’t upgrade linearly, like the other Flasks, and it only has one charge. Instead of using Golden Seeds and Sacred Tears, items called Crystal Tears are found throughout the world that let you customize the Flask of Wondrous Physick’s abilities.

By the time you find the Flask of Wondrous Physick, you may not have any Crystal Tears in your inventory or you might have a bunch. Such is the nature of Elden Ring’s open world (though you should grab the one right next to the Flask at the Church of Marika). Each of these Crystal Tears gives a different benefit, and you can mix and match any two to fit your playstyle.

While it doesn’t account for every single one, a majority of the Crystal Tears in Elden Ring can be found near the Minor Erdtrees that populate the world. Some can be found in basins near the bases of these trees but many are guarded by strong boss creatures known as Erdtree Avatars. There are a number of Avatars guarding different Erdtrees throughout Elden Ring’s world and each one drops at least two valuable Crystal Tears.
