Season 10 of Diablo III is upon us, and Boss Mode is back. Many have avoided this Conquest because it seems “too hard.” While the task of beating 16 bosses in 20 minutes or less may seem like a daunting task, it’s very possible to do, even on your own. Whether you’re playing in a group or solo, the two most important things to consider are timing and strategy. While it’s easier said than done, it’s a fairly straightforward Conquest to beat as long as you have the right plan in place. To show you just how easy it can be, here’s a step-by-step guide to putting together the best plan to tackle Boss Mode.
1. Choose your class, gear, and skills
I’m not going to tell anyone what class/gear is best for this conquest, because I think that people know what works for them. That being said, I have my own personal preferences. Like many, I’m partial to the Demon Hunter with Vault, but I’ve heard good things about tackling this conquest with a Witch Doctor. Consider mobility and the amount of damage you can do. Each class has their strengths and weaknesses, but at the end of the day, it’s best to pick what you’re strongest with.
I will also say that whether you’re playing solo or in a group, it’s best to consider switching out your gear and skills for what you’re doing. You can use a certain set up to get to the boss, then switch it out before the fight to optimize your strength and movement during the actual fight.
2. Pick a team, or go it alone
Group: Playing in a group is definitely the easier route to go, especially if you have the right team. However, every player needs to know their roles and has to hit their mark at the right time. Set up your town portals where the bosses are and then use the map to return to town.
Communication is key in group play. Use the chat to signal each other when you’ve beaten a boss or if a boss starts taking longer than expected. Be prepared for the possibility that certain bosses may take longer than you had originally planned and know how you will make up for lost time.
Solo: This conquest is definitely doable solo, but you need to consider what class/gear you want to chose. It may take a few more tries than with a group, but I firmly believe that this Conquest is possible with any class. However, I am still partial to my DH with vault. This is also a good time to break out all your gear that ups toughness.
3. Decide an order to take on the bosses
If you’re playing in a group, everyone needs to agree on the order. Regardless of how many players there are, you need to prepare a list of all the bosses and the order you plan to beat them. The general consensus is that it works best if you prioritize the hardest bosses with the longest cut scenes first, then work your way down to the shorter, easier bosses.
These are the four bosses with animations:
- Belial
- Malthael
- Urzael
- Diablo
However, the animations are not the only thing you have to consider. The other factor when you’re making your list is the ease of reaching each boss. For example, the Butcher is a relatively easy boss to beat, but takes longer to get to than Belial. Consider putting easier bosses that take longer to reach closer to the top of your list, but not above bosses like Diablo and Malthael.
Don’t be discouraged if this Conquest takes a few tries, even in a group. If the first four bosses take longer than 8 minutes, you may consider restarting, especially if you’re playing alone. It may help to test how long certain bosses take you to beat before heading into Boss Mode. This will help you know how far along you need to be at what time. You also will want to know how much time you can afford to lose if you die unexpectedly or you get stuck at one boss longer than you planned.
Now, go forth and conquer!
You now have a step-by-step guide to creating your plan to beat Boss Mode. If you’ve shied away from this Conquest because it seems to hard, now you know that it’s just about strategy. Make sure your plan is secure before you head into the Conquest, and test any Bosses or setups that you’re unsure of beforehand. If you end up having to do multiple runs, change your plan accordingly based on what went wrong. Now you are ready, nephalem. Win your conquest and reap your rewards!
