Something that I’ve talked about in some of my other articles is the gradual transition of eSports being considered a regular, more “normal” sport, and all of the things that come along with that. Something that can be extremely helpful in making yourself a better player is replays of your games. All of the major sports employ replay studying, quarterbacks in the NFL in particular are always praised for their dedication to studying opposing defenses and being able to use this information in the actual game. League of Legends is no different.
People always say that “hindsight is always 20/20,” meaning that when you take a look back on your actions, you will almost always see the correct choice that you might not have while you took that action.
It makes total sense; when you’re playing League you obviously want to win and always perform the right action–you’re not trying to die. The action you took seemed the most logical at the time, but when watching your gameplay after the fact, you can dissect your mistakes much easier.
By taking a look at your games once in a while, you can take a look at them with a calm, methodical approach that you might not normally have during the hectic nature of a particular match.
The program you use doesn’t matter too much. Lolreplays, fraps, a streaming service, or any screen capture software is perfectly fine based on your preference. Taking a look back at some of your games once in a while can help point out potentially huge mistakes made in-game that you wouldn’t normally recognize while you desperately try not to lose the game.
