Genshin Impact: Nymph’s Dream Best Characters Guide

Which characters should use the Nymph's Dream in Genshin Impact?

The Nymph’s Dream artifact set was added to Genshin Impact with patch 3.6. Nymph’s Dream grants a boost to Hydro damage, but who to use it with might not be entirely clear. Let’s go into the best characters for the Nymph’s Dream set in Genshin Impact.

How to Get Nymph’s Dream in Genshin Impact

The Genshin Impact Nymph’s Dream artifact set is found in the Molten Iron Fortress domain. It’s in the northwestern portion of Sumeru Desert between the Sands of the Three Canals and Temir Mountains.

You’ll fight two Mitachurl enemies, followed by two Hilichurl Rogues (Anemo and Hydro). The domain effect grants +150 elemental mastery for eight seconds whenever you trigger a Dendro reaction.

These are the Nymph’s Dream artifact set bonuses:

  • 2-piece bonus: +15% Hydro damage bonus.
  • 4-piece bonus: Any type of attack (i.e., normal, charged, plunging, skill, and burst) grants one stack of Mirrored Nymph (lasts eight seconds). Once you have 1/2/3 stacks, gain 7/16/25% ATK and 4/9/15% Hydro damage bonus. Stacks generated by different types of attacks exist independently.

Best Characters (4-piece): Tartaglia and Ayato

The two best characters for Nymph’s Dream in Genshin Impact are Tartaglia and Ayato.

Because of how the 4-piece bonus works (i.e., stacks existing independently and thus needing to do different types of actions), you’ll have to manage your rotation to get the max benefit immediately. This also implies that main DPS characters/those that need to be on the field longer would benefit the most.

This works well for Tartaglia given his kit, where you can pop his normal attack, charged attack, and skill, with the full buff getting unleashed once you cast his burst. As for Ayato, you’re looking at his burst, followed by a normal or charged attack, then his skill.

Viable options (2-piece combo): Yelan

Yelan is more of a sub-DPS fighter, whose damage scales off HP. As such, the Nymph’s Dream 2-piece bonus can be combined with the bonus from Heart of Depth, for a whopping +30% Hydro damage right from the get-go. Alternatively, you could do with the 2-piece bonus and any other artifact that grants HP%.

Should You Farm for Nymph’s Dream?

The biggest problem with the Genshin Impact Nymph’s Dream artifact set is that it comes fairly late in the game. It directly competes against Heart of Depth, something that’s been around for years. While Nymph’s Dream does provide that extra DPS, this is but a minor upgrade to what long-time players have had with Heart of Depth.

As such, it really boils down to this question: do you really need to spend a lot of time trying to get great rolls for this new set just to obtain a slight boost? Coincidentally, you might find more use out of this once the version 4.0 characters from Fontaine start getting introduced.

In any case, the Nymph’s Dream is just one of two artifact sets from the Molten Iron Fortress domain. You can also take a look at our best characters for the Vourukasha’s Glow artifact guide, and check out our other Genshin Impact guides.
