Golf Clash is a 1 vs 1 golf simulator for Android and iPhone. It’s a fairly simple game to play, but a tricky game to master. Here’s everything you need to know to get a hole-in-one and outplay your competition!
Learn the Basics!
Driving a ball in Golf Clash is fairly straightforward. Simply pull back on the ball until your thumb lines up with the center of the circle at the bottom. After that, line up the arrow with the bullseye and release. This will ensure the golf ball heads in the direction the guiding line was aimed at. However, there are several tricks to driving the ball to a better distance and position.
Beyond the Tutorial
Using the Overhead View to your advantage
One feature not shown in the tutorial that is actually very important to your success is the overhead view.
While in the overhead view you can drag the target in the direction you want the ball to go in. It is automatically pointed at the shortest point between you and the hole, but this doesn’t always translate to the best place to aim due to wind, curved shots, or other variables (especially in harder difficulties).
By changing the target in overhead view you can make sure the ball is headed exactly where you want it to go, as well as figure out where it will go after it bounces. Be sure to make extra use of this when you are close to the green as it can make the difference between a draw and failure in many close games.
Moving outside “the circle”
Not all situations call for a “perfect shot” as the announcer likes to call them. In fact, moving outside of perfection can sometimes give you the advantage — especially earlier on, when you don’t have access to better clubs.
The main skill you’ll need to learn is the overpower shot. To do this, pull the ball past the targeting circle. The screen will start to vibrate, and the targeting needle will start to move wildly. This will make it much more difficult to aim since the needle will be moving much faster than normal, but if you time it right then the ball will go farther than it normally would. This is especially useful when driving from the tee box (the first hit) since it will close the distance much faster than a normal hit with less risk than using an overpower shot later on in the match.
Curved shots are similarly made by pulling the ball to the left or right of the circle. The further you pull it left or right, the more curve the ball will have in the opposite direction. Once again, this will cause the needle to move much faster, so be careful not to get too far off the mark or else you will risk launching the ball completely off course, and possibly out of bounds.
Become a Spin Master
Tapping the ball icon on the top right (or left if you’re player 1) will give you the option to swap your ball and spin direction. The more topspin you have, the farther forward it will bounce and roll forward, and vice-versa with backspin. As for sidespin, the ball will travel in the direction you point it in.
Be sure to check out the abilities of your various golf balls while in game. That way you can determine exactly what you need to do to ensure the ball goes exactly where you want. All the spin directions will both need some practice to get used to it, but once you learn how to do it correctly, you will have that much more of an advantage over your opponents.
Just remember that not all golf clubs are made equal. Your maximum spin is heavily determined by your club.
Roughing it out
We all hit the rough or the bunker from time to time. It’s an inevitability unless you are extremely careful with each hit. When stuck in these areas, use overpower shots to your advantage. Topspin can help a lot in these cases too since there’s very little risk to going all out — unless of course you manage to hit the ball out of bounds.
Putt-ing the time in…
Terrible puns aside, investing as much time as possible into your putts is very important if you want to win. If you have a lead as the only one on the green, this can secure your victory. If you are just behind your opponent, this will be the difference between a tie game, winning, or losing.
While aiming the putter, make sure you watch both the line where the ball will go, as well as the moving arrow. You want to line up the end of the line with the hole so the pole lifts and the hole glows. Once you have that lined up, release the ball once the moving arrow is directly over the hollowed out marker. This will ensure that the ball goes exactly where you intended, and that your victory is assured.
And there you have it!
Other than practicing to handle wind directions and speed (i.e. fight the wind, or go with it) there isn’t much else to learn about Golf Clash. Just remember to practice enough with each step so that you aren’t taking too long to make a shot as this will result in a timeout and a forfeit. Remember: it’s better to overshoot than to never shoot at all!
With that said, good luck, and have fun!
