Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a next-gen update sometime in 2021, and thanks to the game’s cross-save and backwards compatibility features, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users can continue their games play on next-gen systems.
There are some steps to follow to get everything in working order, but we’ve got it all laid out for you below. Here’s how Cyberpunk 2077 cross-save and backwards compatibility work.
Cyberpunk 2077 PlayStation 5 Cross Save
PlayStation 5 offers three methods of transferring your Cyberpunk 2077 save data off your PS4.
- Active PlayStation Plus members can just upload their data to the cloud, then download it on the PS5.
- If you’ve got your PS4 and PS5 near each other, you can use a LAN cable or local wireless to transfer data without needing to use PS Plus.
- The third option is just using an external storage device to copy your PS4 save data over to PS5.
Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox Series X|S Cross Save (Smart Delivery)
Xbox Series X|S Smart Delivery means you don’t have to do much to keep playing on your next-gen Xbox.
If you own the Xbox One version of Cyberpunk 2077 already, Smart Delivery automatically installs the game on Xbox Series X|S. You can connect to the Internet to upload save data to the cloud and download it on Series X|S or use “same network transfer” if both systems are hooked to the same network.
That’s it on how Cyberpunk cross saves will work between the PS5 and PS4, as well as the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s good, too, since you wouldn’t want to lose any progress in this gigantic RPG.
