Last Epoch: How to Defeat Diamond Matrons

Diamond Matrons reside in The Temple Rooftops and The Upper Temple areas of the Last Epoch. They’re a group of elite defenders of Majasa, one of the gods in the World of Eterra. They usually wear lots of gold and jewelry, which makes them stand out from the rest of the enemies.

I consider Diamond Matrons extremely dangerous, and I wouldn’t want to face them without learning about their moves and skills first. So here’s a list of the abilities that you should expect from the Diamond Matrons:

  • They can imbue their weapons with Light Magic, which allows them to send shockwaves forward.
  • If they can’t directly strike an enemy, they send a Sky Beam down from above that will follow you slowly.
  • Lastly, if they’re low on health, they activate the Healing Hand, which heals them and their allies within an area of effect.

I developed a certain strategy that can help me easily defeat Diamond Matrons, even in large groups. Here’s what I propose you do to beat Diamond Matrons in Last Epoch.

Step 1: Isolate Diamond Matrons

I realized that Diamond Matrons are only strong when surrounded by other enemies. But once separated, I can easily deal with them. Here’s how to do this:

  • Lure them away by engaging in combat and then drawing back. They’ll keep following you and, at the same time, leave their allies behind.
  • Alternatively, use crowd control and ranged spells, such as Volcanic Orb or Bow Attack, to distract their attention and leave their group.
  • Lastly, if the above methods don’t work for some reason, I suggest you defeat the rest of the enemies in the group as quickly as possible so that Diamond Matrons can’t heal them.

Step 2: Utilize Debuff Skills

Another important thing to consider in the battle against Diamond Matrons is their weakness to various debuff effects, such as Stun and Slow. That’s why I recommend using the following spells and attacks to completely immobilize them:

  • Ice Barrage fires a number of ice projectiles that can slow down Diamond Matrons.
  • Cold Snap and Frost Nova create a freezing explosion that slows down enemies.
  • Smite summons a powerful lightning attack on the enemies, stunning them.
  • Hammer Throw does exactly that, dealing lots of physical and stun damage.

Step 3: Protect Yourself from Diamond Matrons

I also selected a few spells that can protect you from the attacks of Diamond Matrons that you should definitely use:

  • Ice Ward creates a protective shield around the player.
  • Shield Rush protects you with a shield and allows you to attack an enemy in front of you.

With a combination of these spells and attacks, you can easily defeat Diamond Matrons, who drop rare and unique items. These items are random and depend on your current level of progression. Hopefully, my guide on how to beat Diamond Matrons in Last Epoch helped you out.
