Mace is the latest melee weapon in Minecraft, which not only deals lots of damage but also negates fall damage. Here, I’ll provide you with tips on how to craft, use, and repair mace in Minecraft, including the exact recipe and list of possible enchantments.

Mace can be crafted by combining 1 Heavy Core + 1 Breeze Rod. I was able to spot Heavy Core only inside the Trial Chambers, while scouring the Ominous Vault. Note that the chance for the vault to drop Heavy Core is only 8.3%, so keep trying until you find one.

Breeze Rod, on the other hand, is a lot easier to get by simply defeating Breeze mobs that spawn in the Trial Chambers. Once you have both elements, combine them on the crafting table the way I did in the screenshot below:

By default, Mace deals 17.5 points of damage to any mob or player. Each hit removes 1 point of durability from the weapon, which is why I highly recommend frequently repairing it. The best way to use mace is to attack with it while falling, which executes a much more powerful smashing attack. To perform a smash attack, you need to fall more than 1.5 blocks down on your victim. If you manage to fall more than 2.5 blocks, then the mace attack will also be able to knock back your enemy.

But the damage can stack indefinitely, and the only limitation is how many blocks you can fall down from. Potentially, it’s possible to insta-kill a player with a single smash attack wearing a full Protection IV Netherite Armor. But I personally have never seen anyone do such a thing, although it’s possible under the rules of the game.

Similarly, you can destroy inanimate objects with smash hits, such as boats, doors, minecarts, etc. If you hit such an object while falling, the fall damage is reset, which is why holding a mace can help you survive while exploring mineshafts and caves.

As I already mentioned, it’s important to repair mace after each combat or usage. There are a couple of ways to repair maces in Minecraft, and here I describe both of them:

• Combine two damaged maces on the crafting table or on the anvil to fully repair one of them.
• Combine a single damaged mace with 1 Breeze Rod for a full repair.

When repairing your mace weapon on the anvil, I also suggest you apply enchantments to your weapon that can add special powers to it. The cost of applying an enchantment depends on the max level of your chosen enchantment. Here are all the enchantments you can apply to your Mace in Minecraft:
