Spike Traps are the new annoyance you will encounter in Lethal Company, and they are the most difficult “traps” in the game. They attack without mercy and will derail your runs in mere seconds if they are given the opportunity. Here’s how to deal with Spike Traps in Lethal Company.

How to Spot a Spike Trap in Lethal Company

Spike Traps are somewhat difficult to spot, and that’s the core problem you will be fighting against. There are two types of Spike Traps in Lethal Company:

  1. The ones that activate themselves automatically and periodically, with random timespans ranging from about 2 seconds to about 20 seconds.
  2. The ones that activate when you pass under them.

You can spot them by an unusual metal bar that goes up the wall between the floor and the ceiling. It has a red sensor in the middle that emits a creepy and eerie sound when you pass it.

How to Beat Spike Traps in Lethal Company

The first ones are much easier to deal with. You will be able to hear them from a distance as they make a loud clanking sound when they drop on the floor so that you will be aware of their presence. As soon as they start retracting, you can pass under them.

The second ones are the ones that will kill you, especially when it’s completely dark. They do not automatically drop down, and sometimes, you will spot them when it’s already too late. Once you pass that sensor I mentioned above, the drop sequence is initiated, and you do not have a lot of time left. If you have no cargo on you, you will probably be able to sprint through and make it out unscathed. However, if you’re walking and have heavy items on you, it’s probably over.

You should start looking at ceilings in Lethal Company now, and you should start looking out for those metal bars with the sensor. It can mean the difference between life and death. I have an idea on how to make it easier to deal with a spike trap: Spray Paint Can.

Yes. For just 50 Credits in the Terminal Shop, you can make your life a lot easier. Drawing a line between the walls (or something along the lines) may help you and your teammates spot the trap later. My playgroups use the following symbolism:

  • Dot above the door – way home
  • “F” – fire exit close
  • “M” – main entrance close
  • “X” or “/” on the wall – dead end / empty hall / empty room
  • “A” – Apparatus close
  • “T” – turret close
  • “1” on the floor – arrow to point the way home (we try to save paint)
