One of the most powerful helmet items in Act 1 is the Holy Lance Helm. It’s perfect for melee frontliners like Paladins or Fighters, but essentially, any class that has medium armor proficiency can use it. Here’s how to find and use the Holy Lance Helm in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Find the Holy Lance Helm in BG3
The Holy Lance Helm is found in a painted chest on the top level of the Rosymorn Monastery. The easiest way I reached it was from the entrance area to the Monastery. There, you’ll see some vines that you can climb on the left wall. Once you’re on the upper platform, continue forward and then make a right to a glowing red/orange door.
Ignore it for now. To the right, there’ll be another set of vines you can climb. Up there, you’ll be faced with a giant bird, an encounter that triggers automatically. I would settle it with an Animal Handling check or the Speak With Animals spell to avoid a fight unless you’re trying to help the blue jay from the Monastery trail.
Once you’re done with the birds, use your character with the highest Strength score to jump to the platform below. Lastly, head straight to the broken-off chapel tower in the picture below. Inside it, you’ll find a chest with the Holy Lance Helm.
How to Use the Holy Lance Helm in BG3
This is an incredibly useful helmet for frontliners who can wield medium armor. Each attack that misses the equipped character triggers 1d4 Radiant damage on the attacker. Therefore, I recommend it for high AC classes, like Paladin and Fighter, which wear heavy armor and shields. It’s not the best on Barbarians because your Reckless Attack will cause you to get hit more often thereby not triggering the Helm’s effect.
That’s it for my guide on how to find and use the Holy Lance Helm in Baldur’s Gate 3. For more BG3 guides, check out how to find the Blood of Lathander legendary weapon.
