Evolve Error Patch Fix

First, Turtle Rock Studios released a patch that should fix many errors. You can download it in game via Steam client. This patch is supposed to fix the following issues:

  • FPS Drops –  Games becomes hard to play because of stuttering and low FPS around 20-30.
  • Crashes – Crashing at startup and randomly during the game.
  • Shadows – Game shadows are huge and black.
  • Black Screen – Game screen turns black.

After downloading, the patch should automatically extract it and open the patch. If the patch does not automatically apply itself:

  1. Select the folder to install the patch to. Default folder if bought from steam is: C:Program Files/(x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Evolve.
  2. Select the graphics card, either Nvidia or AMD.
  3. Select the error, or multiple errors if you have more than one, then click verify and patch.

After it is successful, you can start the game again.

There are some more things you can try if that doesn’t work for some reason. Most issues can be fixed by downloading from a legit source if you didn’t already.

How to fix… Evolve stopped working

This is when the game crashes and you get the “stopped working” error.

  1. Install Visual C++ Redistributable Studio for Visual 2012 Update 4.
  2. Run Evolve as an administrator
  3. Go to C:Program Files/(x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/ and right-click neptuniarebirth1. Click troubleshoot compatibility and make Evolve run using service pack 3.
  4. Download the Msvcp110.dll file. Paste to Evolve root directory.

How to fix… Crashing to the desktop

  1. First, make sure you have the most updated drivers for your graphics and sound cards.
  2. If that doesn’t work, change the desktop resolution to the game resolution.

How to fix… Cursor always displaying bug

There has also been an issue where the cursor won’t go away. This comes from Reddit user, thesircuddles. This is if you are playing via Steam.

  • Spam the Steam Overlay and eventually the cursor always displaying bug will go away.

This is temporary and could take multiple tries to fix. Turtle Rock Studios is aware of the problem and is working to fix it.

That should cover all your problems. If you see any more errors that can’t be fixed by the patch or the above suggestions, let me know in the comments.
