Not being able to connect to a server is frustrating, but that’s happening for a lot of people trying to log into Keen Games’ new survival title. Here, I’ll tell you how to fix the game creation failed error in Enshrouded through.
How to Fix the Game Creation Failed Error When Trying to Connect to a Server in Enshrouded
The game creation failed error is a bit weird, even for Enshrouded. The server or session host must fix it, rather than those trying to join a multiplayer session. It seems this particular error has to do with the server host’s permissions, but there’s one thing you can try as someone attempting to join a session.
I want to note that these fixes might only work for dedicated servers, and for just smaller multiplayer sessions. Enshrouded players attempting to join either multiplayer option are running into the game creation failed error. As with most errors, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
Enshrouded Game Creation Failed Fix #1: Run the Game as Admin
Both the session host and anyone attempting to join a multiplayer session should be running the game as an administrator to avoid issues. To get to your Enshrouded directory and set the .exe file to run as administrator, follow these steps:
- Right-click on Enshrouded in your Steam Library.
- Mouse over “Manage” and click on “Browse local files.”
- Right-click on enshrouded.exe and then click on “Properties.”
- Select the “Compatibility” tab and then check off the box that says, “Run this program as an administrator.”
- Apply and close the window.
Attempt to join a server after setting your game to be run as administrator to see if this worked. But it’s very possible it might not, as this seems to be an issue on the side of the session host.
Enshrouded Game Creation Failed Fix #2: Have the Server Host Launch the Enshrouded Dedicated Server .Exe Directly
This is a weird solution to a weird problem, but I’ve seen it work for some people. It appears that the Enshrouded Dedicated Server tool encounters permissions issues when launched via a shortcut, and can cause the game creation error. To circumvent it, the server or session host must run the server tool directly from its file. Much like the above, you can get to it by:
- Right-clicking the Enshrouded Dedicated server in your Steam Library.
- Mousing over “Manage” and choosing “Browse local files.”
Run the .exe for the Dedicated Server Tool directly from the folder, and see if other players can join your multiplayer session.
Enshrouded Game Creation Failed Fix #3: Ensure The Server Has a Basic Password
This is another off-the-wall solution to this error, but it’s worked for many and may work for you. When launching a server, the server host must do it with a password the first time and continue to do so from then on. The multiplayer session host must also avoid using odd characters in the password. Use letters and numbers for Enshrouded server passwords, at least for now.
That’s it for how to fix the game creation failed error in Enshrouded. Whatever causes this issue has something to do with Windows permissions, or maybe it’s simply something to do with its proprietary engine. In any case, I hope one of these solutions works for you.
