Charcoal and Coal might not seem important when you first start playing, but they become crucial in late-game production. Especially when you unlock guns and need to keep crafting ammo for them. If you want to start stocking up early, here’s how to get Charcoal in Palworld.
How to Craft Charcoal in Palworld
Rather than a resource you gather, Charcoal needs to be crafted after you unlock and build a furnace.
The first furnace you unlock is the Primitive Furnace at Technology Level 10. To build it, you need:
- 20 Wood
- 50 Stones
- 3 Flame Organs
Eventually, you unlock better furnaces through Technology Points. But for now, the Primitive Furnace unlocks the recipe to craft Charcoal, so you don’t need to wait until you have better furnace options. You do, however, want to assign a Kindling Pal to your Primitive Furnace to craft for you. Then, you go into the furnace and choose to make Charcoal. One piece of Charcoal uses two pieces of Wood to craft, so a Lumbering Site becomes highly convenient here.
How to Use Charcoal in Palworld
Once you start crafting and storing Charcoal, you use it later in the game to create Carbon Fiber, Gunpowder, the Heater, the Electric Kitchen, and the Fireplace Set. Since the Carbon Fiber and Gunpowder are likely where most of your Charcoal will be used, here are their recipes.
Carbon Fiber:
- 2 Coal
- 2 Charcoal
Gunpowder:
- 2 Charcoal
- 1 Sulfur
Carbon Fiber is required for creating weapons and high level spheres, while Gunpowder is used for crafting ammo. As such, it won’t be too early to start building up a stash of Charcoal because these crafts go through it quickly.
And that covers how to get Charcoal in Palworld along with how to use it. I have a couple Pals assigned to a Lumber Site, then check back and order a Kindling Pal to craft Charcoal at base when I’m there for a fairly consistent production of it.
