Since you gather them from killing creatures, Leatherworking materials can be tedious to collect. Each new set of crafting levels makes use of materials from different areas, so here we’re looking at one of the last three zones as a potential farming spot. Here’s how to get Gomphotherium Skin in FFXIV.
FFXIV: Where to Find or Purchase Gomphotherium Skin
Gomphotherium are Level 98 creatures that resemble elephants. You find them in Heritage Found around (X: 12, Y: 16.9), which is southwest of The Outskirts Aetheryte. They have a chance to drop Gomphotherium Skin when killed, and I’ve gotten 2-4 skins on average when they drop. However, the drop rate can feel low at times, and you might kill multiple without picking up a single skin.
Purchasing Options for Gomphotherium Skin
Understandably, you might not want to farm Gomphotherium Skins yourself. In that case, you have the option to purchase them. Of course, the Marketboard is always an option for crafting materials. The downside is that the prices fluctuate. So, you might find a good deal one day, then have to spend a chunk of Gil another day.
Alternatively, you can purchase Gomphotherium Skins with Bicolor Gemstones gathered from Fates. They’re sold by the Gemstone Trader in Heritage Found and the traders in Solution Nine and Tuliyollal. While you can get them at Rank 1 for Heritage Found, you need to be Rank 4 in all zones to buy them in Solution Nine or Tuliyollal. One skin costs three gems, but they don’t take long to collect if you work with a Fate party.
That’s how to get Gomphotherium Skin in FFXIV. If you’re leveling Leatherworking, you go through a lot of skins, so be prepared to either farm or purchase a hefty amount of them. From here, check out our FFXIV guide hub for more content, especially with Dawntrail now available!
