How to Get Inside the House in Alone in the Dark

Arriving at your first puzzle doesn’t take long, and actually happens right after you select your character. Naturally, Decerto’s door is locked, and you need to search for another way to enter the mansion and check on Jeremy Hartwood. So, here’s how to get into the house in Alone in the Dark.

Alone in the Dark: How to Get Inside Decerto Mansion

Before letting the character you aren’t playing into the mansion, you need five items: a flashlight, the Kitchen Garden Key, the Laundry Key, the Piazza Key, and Decerto’s Floor Plan.

You start in the garage, which is connected to the stables. This is where you pick up the flashlight and Kitchen Garden Key. The flashlight is on, so head to the light in the stall to your left and grab it. In doing so, you also pick up the key.

Continue through the stables and turn right to the locked door, which opens using the key you just grabbed. On the other side of the fountain in the Conservatory, you find the Housekeeper’s Key in the broken pot. This unlocks the door down the stairs tucked into the corner of the Conservatory, which is an area for the building’s staff. Here, you head straight into the Kitchen, then exit through the door on the left. Slightly more to the left, you find the stair hall. Head upstairs.

Unlocking the Foyer in Alone in the Dark

The second door on the left is Lottie’s room. It’s open, and you see a desk under a cross on the wall. Enter it and grab the Decerto Floor Plan and the Piazza Key. The medicine box on the table is locked, and you can’t open it until a bit later in the game. From here, turn around and go to the door directly across from Lottie’s room. Use the Piazza Key to open the new door, then continue into the Foyer. Once you reach the Foyer and go near the doors, a cutscene plays to welcome you to Decerto Mansion officially.
