Minecraft: How to Make Wolf Armor

To make Wolf Armor in Minecraft, you will need to gather 6x Armadillo Scutes. To get them follow the steps below:

  1. You’ll need to locate Armadillos in the two biomes they spawn.
  2. You will need to brush them to obtain a specific amount of Armadillo Scutes, the main crafting component in Wolf Armor.
  3. You can dye the Wolf Armor to your liking.

In addition to the above recipe, there are a few essential things about Wolf Armor that you should know.

  • You can only equip Wolf Armor to adult wolves that you tamed.
  • You can unequip Wolf Armor by using Shears.
  • A Wolf will drop the Wolf Armor it is wearing when it dies.
  • The equipped Wolf Armor loses one durability point for every point of damage it absorbs.
  • You can heal any Wolf Armor for eight durability points by using an Armadillo Scute on the Wolf equipped with it.

Now, you are an expert on Wolf Armor and know precisely how it works so that you can plan appropriately. With that said, you may be wondering if you can dye the new Wolf Armor you just crafted. The answer is yes, and we’ll talk about that more below!

How to Make a Brush in Minecraft

Since using a single brush on an Armadillo will get you about 4 Scute, you must make two Brushes to get enough Scute to craft a single set of Wolf Armor.

Here’s how to make a Brush in Minecraft:

  • 1x Soft Feather.
  •  1x Copper Ingot.
  •  1x Stick.

You must line them in that order from top to bottom, in the middle row.

How to Get Armadillo Scute in Minecraft

Now that you have made Brushes, you can obtain Scute. To do so, you must walk up to an Armadillo, right-click on it, or use the secondary action button, depending on your platform. Brushing an Armadillo will cause a single Scute to drop on the ground, and you’ll get about 4 Scute per life of a single standard Brush. There is also no cooldown for the Brush action, so you can spam this action as quickly as you like.

How to Dye Wolf Armor in Minecraft

Removing dye from an armor using a cauldron with clear water in Minecraft.

Based on your specific game edition, you can dye Wolf Armor following the same process as dyeing player Armor. In the Java edition, you dye it by combining the Wolf Armor with dyes using your Crafting station. In the Bedrock Edition, you can dye your wolf armor by sending it to a Cauldron with dyed water. Likewise, if you want to remove the dye from your Wolf Armor, you can send it to a Cauldron with regular water to remove any dyes.
