You can start mining using any ship in the game, but this guide will provide you with tips on how to do it in the most effective way. We’ll go over which ores are the best to mine and where, as well as all the steps required to start effectively mining in EVE Echoes.

How to Mine in EVE Echoes

Though you can start mining using any ship available to you, purchasing mining modules will speed things up.  Here’s how you do it:

  1. Go to your local Trade Hub
  2. Enter the Market menu
  3. Select Harvest Equipment
  4. Search for Mining Laser equipment

The two best mining modules are MK3 Miner and MK5 Miner, which cost 50,000 ISK to 150,000 ISK each.

Mining modules still require a carrier of sorts, which could be frigate ships with huge cargo capacities, such as Heron, or destroyer ships, such as Cormorant, which can carry up to three mining lasers.

However, the best choice for mining is the Venture frigate. It has special bonuses for its ore, such as increases to how much ore is extracted. According to Eve Online Ships, it has the following attributes:

Mining Frigate bonuses (per skill level):

  • 5% bonus to Mining yield
  • 5% reduction in Gas Cloud Harvesting duration

Role Bonus:

  • 100% bonus to Mining and Gas Cloud Harvesting yield
  • 2+ bonus to ship warp core strength

Regardless of the ship you choose, follow these steps to start mining in EVE Echoes:

  1. Warp to an Asteroid Belt
  2. Undock and check for anomalies in your area
  3. Lock onto the closest asteroid
  4. Activate your mining lasers

Be sure to get to at least 15-kilometers away from an asteroid before activating your mining laser (the maximum range for an MK3 mining laser).

Let your cargo hold fill with ore, and return to the station for offloading.

If you can’t afford mining modules, then you can use mining drones, but these are a lot slower and yield less ore than the modules. You also need to get very close to the asteroid when mining with drones.

There are six types of mining drones in EVE Echoes:

  • Civilian Mining Drone
  • Mining Drone I
  • Mining Drone II
  • Augmented Mining Drone
  • Harvester Mining Drone
  • Excavator Mining Drone

Excavators are the best and yield the most ore, but these can only be carried by the Rorqual industrial ships.

Follow these steps to start mining with drones in EVE Echoes:

  1. Get as close to the asteroid as possible
  2. Launch your mining drones
  3. Select “Mine Repeatedly” command in the drone menu
  4. Wait for the drones to return to your ship to unload the ore

There are 16 different types of ores in EVE Echoes. Each has different purposes, and while some can be found everywhere, others have specific locations.
