Hungry Shark World Guide — Tips and Tricks for Getting Huge

A quick list of tips and tricks to getting your shark as big and bad as possible in Hungry Shark World.
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Hungry Shark World is the perfect representation of a type of game that’s about as old as the Internet — you start small, eat fish, and get big. Unlike the wonky 2D flash game you played instead of doing work in computer class, Hungry Shark World has great graphics, responsive controls, tons to explore and collect, and a bunch of features to make the game more immersive and fun. Here’s a short list of things you need to know to get your shark as big and bad as possible.

Eat!

The most important thing you need to do in Hungry Shark World, believe it or not, is to eat fish (and birds, people, anything that doesn’t fight back really). Not only do you get points and goodies from it, but if you don’t eat, you don’t get to keep going — which means less coins, gems, and other fun stuff. If you encounter a school of fish, make sure that you try to get them all — you’ll get a bonus. Keep an eye out for prey that’s flashing gold — eating these will give you coins which you can spend on upgrades and goodies.

Try to run up your score — the more fish you eat in succession, the higher your multiplier will get, which can serious boost your score and get you closer to a level-up and to new shark unlocks.

Learn which fish you can eat and which you can’t, and steer clear of things like pufferfish, jellyfish, lionfish, and big crabs, which you can’t eat and will drain your life. Wait to get big and come back for revenge.

Shark Care 101

Hungry Shark World has a pretty solid RPG system which you shouldn’t neglect. Make sure to upgrade your shark if you have the coins to do it — it makes a difference. Also, make sure to get everything you can out of your adventures — each map has three missions to complete as you’re chowing down on fish. These are a great source of coins, so don’t neglect them. You should also be on the lookout for the daily chests — there are five, and the more you collect, the more gold you get.

You can purchase the map of each zone and upgrade them to find out where these chests and other goodies are — it’s a little pricey, but it will definitely pay off in the long run. There are also cosmetic upgrades that will boost your coin generation, speed, or other aspects of your shark’s effectiveness — make sure to check these out and weigh their usefulness.

Most importantly though, you need to get eating! Did we leave anything out? Have some tips to share about Hungry Shark World? Let us know in the comments!
