Coral Island has finally released in full, but you may need to wait a bit longer to dive in alongside friends.

If you’re looking to meet up with friends and other players as you tend to your farm, then you might be wondering: Is Coral Island multiplayer? Here’s what we know about this highly requested feature with the full release of the game.

Is Coral Island Multiplayer?

Coral Island Version 1.0 launched on November 14 after a year spent in Early Access. It’s available across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles without multiplayer support. However, developer Stairway Games has plans to add this feature post-launch.

What the Devs Have Said About Coral Island Multiplayer Co-Op

In a Steam Community forum last updated in May 2022, a developer working on Coral Island stated that the team plans to implement multiplayer game modes with the first patch following its full release. Once added to the game, you’ll be able to meet up with friends in online multiplayer or local split-screen co-op.

The addition of multiplayer support was a Kickstarter Stretch Goal set in place by the development team while the game was still in the works. Fortunately, Stairway Games has received the funding to move forward with this undertaking. Of course, we’ll still need to wait for additional game modes to be introduced down the line.

There are plenty of NPCs and romance options in Coral Island

Having received positive reviews from the player base, it’s clear that fans of the game are willing to wait just a bit longer for the addition of multiplayer support.

In the meantime, I can testify that there are plenty of NPCs and even a few furry friends to mingle with in Starlet Town. That’s not to mention a seriously long list of romance options at 28 in total. While this doesn’t offer quite the same experience as meeting up with friends, in my opinion, there are more than enough islanders to socialize with while we await the next update.

When is Coral Island’s Multiplayer Patch Coming Out?

Following the full release of Coral Island, it’s not yet clear when Stairway Games plans to drop the first post-launch patch. That said, the development team has incorporated this milestone as part of their official roadmap for the Early Access version of the game.

This also covered the release of the 1.0 Update, which marked the launch of the finished game. While an exact date has not been announced, the Multiplayer Update is expected to follow.

For the time being, that’s all we know about future multiplayer support in Coral Island. We’ll continue to provide updates as they are released by developers at Stairway Games. For more help with Coral Island, pay a visit to our growing guides hub.
