The Dead Space Remake adds to and improves on the sci-fi survival-horror game that first released on the PlayStation 3 way back in 2008. It’s playable on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series platforms, but if you own Valve’s Steam Deck, you may be wondering if you can play the game on the couch, on the go, or wherever the heck you want to lop some Necromorph limbs.
Is Dead Space Remake on Steam Deck?
If you’re looking for a quick answer to whether you can play the Dead Space Remake on Steamdeck, the answer is yes, you can. As of January 31, 2023, the game’s official Steam page now includes the “Verified” checkmark for Steam Deck use. According to Valve, that means:
-
All functionality is accessible when using the default controller configuration.
-
This game shows Steam Deck controller icons.
-
In-game interface text is legible on Steam Deck.
-
This game’s default graphics configuration performs well on Steam Deck.
At launch on January 27, 2023, the Dead Space Remake did not officially have Steam Deck functionality. Though, like some other still-to-be-verified PC games available through Valve’s storefront, it could be played on the device to varying degrees of success. It just wasn’t in an optimal state.
Of the 2,759 Steam Deck Verified games currently available through Steam, more than 300 fall into the horror subgenre, including titles like Dying Light, Prey, Resident Evil 2 Remake, and the original Dead Space.
