Electronic Arts and Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force have teamed up in Wild Hearts, and the Monster Hunter-like is rolling out its release across multiple platforms between today and tomorrow. The game is currently out on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA App; and is launching at midnight on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. But what about PlayStation 4?
Is Wild Hearts on PS4? Answered
Unfortunately for both PS4 and Xbox One owners, Wild Hearts is only planned to release on current generation consoles.
Confirmed in an interview with IGN, Koei Tecmo directors Kotaro Hirata and Takuto Edagawa felt it was “necessary to maximize the performance of the current platforms.” This has resulted in a highly detailed, colorful world for players to explore. Their focus on current generation capabilities led the team to embrace the “challenge of using new technology.”
It has been two years since the release of the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. With no official announcement for Xbox One or PlayStation 4 included when the release date for Wild Hearts was set, the outlook on there being a PS4 release is grim.
If EA and Koei Tecmo were planning a later release date older generation consoles, like Avalanche Games did with Hogwarts Legacy, there would have already been announcement. Their commitment to expanding upon current generation technology to perfect their game further solidifies that an older generation release will not occur.
While PS4 players may be disappointed there is no older generation release for Wild Hearts, the graphics, welcoming mechanics for new players, and overall story are sure to cause a few to purchase current generation consoles. Keep a lookout for more Wild Hearts coverage here on GameSkinny.
