Due to the numerous server failures over the past few weeks, I’ve been looking at new options outside my main support role. This week’s spotlight will take a look at one champion I feel is a strong option for me, Akali.
Akali’s Story:
Akali trained under her mother to join the Kinkou. The Kinkou believe balance is the answer to everything. Through her mother’s rigorous training, Akali was able to inherit her title as the Fist of Shadow. Akali, Shen, and Kennen make up the Triumvirate. Through their pursuit of balance, the Triumvirate finds its way to the Fields of Justice.
Akali’s Stats and Skills:
Twin Disciplines
Discipline of Force: Akali’s auto attacks deal 6% (+ 1% per 6 AP) bonus magic damage.
Discipline of Might: Akali gains 6% (+ 1% per 6 bonus AD) spell vamp.
Mark of the Assassin:
Akali throws her kama at a target enemy, dealing magic damage and marking the target for 6 seconds. Akali’s basic attacks or Crescent Slash will consume the mark, dealing additional magic damage and restoring energy.
Skill Level | Initial Magic Damage (+40% AP) | Mark Additional Damage (+50% AP) | Total Damage (+90% AP) | Energy Restored |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 35 | 45 | 80 | 20 |
2 | 55 | 70 | 125 | 25 |
3 | 75 | 95 | 170 | 30 |
4 | 95 | 120 | 215 | 35 |
5 | 115 | 145 | 260 | 40 |
Twilight Shroud:
Akali creates a smoke cloud in a 300-radius area for 8 seconds. While within the cloud, Akali is stealthed and gains bonus armor and magic resistance of 10/20/30/40/50. Attacking or using abilities reveals her for 0.65 seconds. Enemies inside the smoke are slowed by 14/18/22/26/30%.
Crescent Slash:
Akali flourishes her kamas, dealing physical damage and triggering any Mark of the Assassin on nearby enemies dealing. Crescent Slash deals 30/55/80/105/130 +30% AP and +60% AD.
Shadow Dance:
Akali uses an Essence of Shadow, dashing to a target and dealing 100/175/250 +50% AP magic damage. Akali gains an Essence of Shadow up to a maximum of three every 30/22.5/15 seconds. The Essence of Shadow gain is affected by cooldown reduction. Additionally, gaining a kill or assist will restore an Essence of Shadow.
Is Akali The Right Champion For You?:
Akali is a very bursty champion, that can run mid or top lane. Based on YouTube videos, Akali Jungle is a viable option as well. Akali is an in your face Assassin. All her skills are short range with a dash Ultimate. Her Mark of the Assassin doesn’t do much damage on its own, so make sure you’re coming it with auto-attacks and Crescent Slash.
If you like bursting champions down quickly, definitely give Akali a play. If this isn’t the style for you, check out my other League of Legends Champion Spotlights.
