The Invasions mode in Mortal Kombat 1 has a lot of secrets to discover across its many boards. Many of these come in the form of “klues,” which require you to beat a match in a certain way or to accomplish a secret objective. One of the last that you’ll come across is a special message with some very specific requirements. Here’s how to use the element that brings life in MK1.
How to Use the Element That Brings Life in MK1
The secret behind the klue, “use the element that brings life,” is that you’ll need to play Rain and finish your opponent with his fatality. Since water is the most essential element for life and only one character specializes in it, you’ll need to use Rain. We also learned through playing that simply winning with him isn’t enough. The match must end with his fatality. We just used his initial one, although it’s likely either one will work just fine.
If you haven’t been using him in the Invasions mode, it’s important to remember to allocate any stat points. Every fighter gains access to five additional points each time you level up in the mode. At this point, there’s likely an overwhelming amount you can manually or automatically apply.
When it comes to the fight itself, you just need to make sure not to cause a brutality. Simply beat it like normal, and then use the correct inputs for his fatality. Here’s the input for his initial gory finisher:
- The Red Sea — Down, Down, Back, Circle/B

Return to the board after the fight, and you’ll be treated to a small cutscene of the debris clearing. Move towards it to find some well-deserved rewards in the Fire Temple.
