If you’re like me, you might prefer the feel of a controller over a keyboard any day of the week even for simple games like My Time at Sandrock. However, you might’ve run into an issue where it wont connect — don’t worry we’ll show you how to fix the controller not working. 

My Time at Sandrock: How to Fix Controller Not Working

If you downloaded My Time at Sandrock through Steam and wanted to use a controller, you may run into it not connecting. Whether you prefer the feel or if it’s for disability issues, this can be a problem. 

Troubleshoot 

If you are experiencing this issue, it might be on the controllers end. To troubleshoot your controller in Steam, use the following steps:

• Go into Big Picture mode, select Settings > Controller > Controller settings
• Highlight your  Controller in the device list and select Support
• Follow the on-screen instructions 

This input test lets you see the functionality of all your buttons and the haptic feedback. 

Controller Layout 

The issue may also be caused by your current controller layout settings. You’ll want to select the layout that says Portia. Follow these steps to get the correct layout: 

• Options > Controls > Controller Layout > Portia 

Disable Steam Input 

The steam input setting may also cause your controller to not work correctly. To turn it off follow these steps:

1. Launch Steam app.
2. Select the “Library” tab.
3. Right-click on My Time at Sandrock
4. Go to “Controller” settings.
5. Select “Disable Steam Input” in the “Use Default Settings” section.

Different/Wired Controller

If the issue persists the last thing you can try is to use a different controller. Sometimes a wired controller will have an easier time connecting so you can try that as well. I always keep a wired controller in handy just for this reason.
