Turtonator has debuted in Pokemon GO, stopping to hang out during 3-Star Raids. The blast turtle is a firey one, sure to make a home in any battle team you may have. If you’re looking to complete your Pokedex or simply like this one’s style, here’s how to defeat this Pokemon so you can catch it.
How to Beat Turtonator in Pokemon GO
Turtonator Attacks
The Fire/Dragon monster employs a heavy fire-based moveset, though it only has two Fast Attacks to pull from, Fire Spin and Ember. It has three available Charged Attacks, letting it utilize Dragon Pulse. Along with Dragon Pulse, it may have Flamethrower or Overheat.
Primary Weaknesses
To beat Turtonator easily, you’ll want to use Pokemon with the following move types:
- Ground
- Rock
- Dragon
While it’s a Fire/Dragon-type Pokemon, the Dragon typing negates Fire’s usual weakness to water. The move types you want to avoid are:
- Grass
- Fire
- Bug
- Steel
- Electric
This Pokemon is especially resistant to Grass and Fire, essentially making your attacks useless if those are on your team. You’ll also want to avoid Steel, Bug, Grass, and Dragon Pokemon, as their typing will make them weak in this fight. Though risky, you can technically take in a Dragon-type since this monster only has a 33% of being that type when you encounter it, I don’t recommend it.
Best Turtonator Counters
The best Turtonator counters are those that take advantage of the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB), while also being resistant to their Fire and Dragon moves. These counters include:
- Therian Landorus: Mud Shot, Earthquake, Earth Power
- Haxorus: Dragon Tail, Dragon Claw
- Mamoswine: Mud-slap, High Horsepower
- Rhyperior: Mud-Slap, Rock Wrecker
That’s how to beat Turtonator in Pokemon GO, whether you’re facing it in a Raid or the Battle League. For more battle tips, check out our ever-growing library of PoGO guides.
