It’s an exciting time in the Crucible right now. No one is really sure what loadout works best. It’s anarchy and its awesome. Since hand cannons were nerfed, and Thorn is no longer the king of castle, you’re probably asking yourself, “What do?”
Some old PvE standbys, like Suros, are becoming relevant again while beasts, like Hawkmoon, are losing favorability. With the nerfs, its hard to gauge what exactly is the best.
The answer is break out those ol’ seemingly crappy weapons the queen gave you.
First, (I just want to say) this is exactly how Bungie wanted it. There is not a definite winner among the weapons, it’s really just works best for you as a player. However, there are a few guns worth getting out of the vault to give a second chance.
Auto Rifles
With the fix to the auto rifles, Suros, Hard Light, and Monte Carlo are all good choices. However, some legendaries with certain perks will rock PvP as well:
- Pest Control Matrix
- Abyss Defiance
- Atheon’s Epilogue
- Vanquisher VII
As for perks:
- ICARUS
- Crowd Control
- Hidden Hand
- Focused Fire
Pulse Rifles
Bad Juju and Red Death are relevant again! But for the legendaries:
- Hopscotch Pilgrim
- 123 Syzygy
- Oversoul Edict
- Time on Target
Perks:
- Headseeker
- Hand-laid stock
- Braced frame
- Rangefinder
- Hidden Hand
Hand Cannons
Why even bother with these now? They’ve owned the crucible for too long. Sigh:
- TFWPKY 1969
- The Devil You Don’t
- The Devil You Know
Best perks:
- Zen Moment
- Army of One
- Hidden Hand
- ICARUS
Scout Rifles
Scout Rifles are always a good choice. High impact, range, and stability, the only downside is fire rate. Mida Multitool is back in action along with these legendaries:
- One/One Synesthete
- Vision of Confluence
- Wolve’s Leash
- Hygiea Noblesse
Best perks:
- Full Auto
- Triple Tap
- Snapshot
- Army of One
- Crowd Control
- Firefly
As for secondaries, Bungie hasn’t really affected the feel of them in the Crucible. The usual winners, such as Party Crasher +1 and Matador 64, look like they will continue as favorites. As for the rest, all the perks listed for primaries also work surprisingly well for snipers, fusion rifles, and sidearms.
