How to Escape the Jailer Boss in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

The Jailer is an elite enemy you’ll find wandering the halls of the Sacred Archive. You’ll initially travel there as part of the Path to the Sands Prison mission. You can defeat the Jailer in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown by obtaining the Clairvoyance time power. Until then, you can only escape him.

This formidable foe is not only strong but also shielded by an aura. You won’t be able to kill him immediately. The only way to beat the Jailer in the Sacred Archive is to evade him by using your abilities to reach your destination.

However, the Jailer also teleports around, making evasion difficult. So you must be quick and careful when trying to escape him. If he manages to catch you, you’ll get sent to the Prison area.

How to Get and Use the Clairvoyance Time Power

While exploring the Sacred Archives as part of the main quest, you’ll come across a large chamber with crystalline walls. Once you can access the puzzle chamber, you must complete the platforming challenges in each of the four rooms.

The goal is to move to certain designated spots or perform certain designated actions, which then get replicated by Sargon’s clones. During the third “round,” you should have access to a cell with a golden tablet.

After completing the tasks in the four puzzle rooms, you’ll be given the Clairvoyance time power, which allows you to change blue objects, platforms, and ledges to and from solid or transparent states.

How to Beat the Jailer and Get the Time Served Achievement and Trophy

The next goal is to head to the top-right section of the Sacred Archives, specifically the room with the Temple of Knowledge fast travel point. The exit at the bottom-right portion leads to the Jailer’s arena.

The Jailer summons several Axe Knight and Mercenary Archer enemies. Moreover, this foe has some devastating sweeping strikes you must avoid by jumping. Remember that he still has his teleport ability, so watch out when you move around the room’s platforms.

When the Jailer takes too much damage, he’ll kneel down and turn incorporeal. Activate Clairvoyance so you can keep attacking his physical form. If you wait too long, as I found out, you c an miss your opportunity to damage him, restarting the damage cycle to return him to a weakened state.

In any case, once you eliminate the Jailer, you’ll receive the “Time Served” achievement for your efforts. Moreover, you can pick up the Holy Scholarship Key. This unique item lets you enter corridors and rooms barred by doors with “sensor eyes.”

What Happens if the Jailer Teleports You to the Prison?

The Prison area is several levels below the Sacred Archives. While there are only a few enemies in this place, you must return to the quest objective after being caught. I’ve personally been caught by the Jailer twice, and the whole thing is downright annoying since you’ll have to climb all the way back to the Sacred Archives to resume your journey.

That’s how you beat the Jailer in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Not only have you rid the area of a vexing boss, but you’ve also got the Time Served trophy or achievement for your efforts. For other tips and strategies, you can visit our PoP: TLC guides hub.
