Though fun, League of Legends can be frustrating, all depending on how you look at it. I believe that the most frustrating aspect of the game is ranked play, specifically solo que. When you are in Bronze and Silver league you will notice the many toxic issues can occur during your games. This is consists of people going AFK, leaving the match, or getting uncontrollably mad. However, I have a few quick tips, that will get the ball rolling, getting you out of Bronze and through Gold in no time!
1. Focus on last hitting.
Your biggest income in the game, in any lane ,is to make sure you get the killing blow on a minion, giving you the gold. This is to get you items ASAP to dominate the field. One thing about last hitting that is easily forgotten: if you focus on kills or trading and fail, you may lose a good portion of minion gold. Focusing on last hitting minions is guaranteed income and is always worth focusing on.
2. If you can steal a kill, do it.
Let’s be honest, in many cases your team can be unreliable. Everyone wins and loses together, but why let them get the gold from the kill when you know it can be put to better use if you have it. Any gold that has been collected by an underperforming teammate is misused gold. Keep the gold in play, get the kills, and get yourself the LP to get to your next promotion series. You will be doing both them and yourself a favor.
3. Find a character with a unique mechanic that can be abused.
My personal favorite is Evelynn. She is the only character in League of Legends that can maintain permanent stealth while moving. Many people forget this, will ward bushes, but will not use the expensive pink ward to reveal stealthed units. This will help you roll into almost any lane unnoticed, get a kill, then run back to your jungle. Evelynn has some issues in late game, so you need to make sure you shut down enemy lanes early, so your team can push down towers for the win.
4. Don’t let yourself get trolled.
Out of all these tips, the absolute most important one is to keep your cool. There are a fair amount of people who are looking to troll you and make you upset. This will take you out of the game if they succeed and you will notice a steep drop in your win/lose ratio. In most cases it is best to not communicate with these players in chat and simply use the in-game ping system instead. Don’t hesitate to mute a player on the enemy team or your own, if they are being toxic. They aren’t worth your words. Remember: if you are typing, you’re not actually playing the game.
Following these suggestions are just the tip of the iceberg at becoming the next great League of Legends player. You will have an exciting journey ahead of you if you can follow these few tips. Good luck and have fun!
