Jack Krauser is one of the bosses in Resident Evil 4 remake. This mercenary was once a comrade of Leon Kennedy and, now, he’s doing the bidding of Lord Saddler and Ramon Salazar. Needless to say, he’s become a thorn in Leon’s side, and he’ll have to be eliminated. You’ll fight Krauser two times in RE4 remake, and this guide will tell you how to beat him each time.
How to Beat Krauser in RE4 Remake
Mercenary Krauser Boss Fight: Chapter 11
The first time you fight Krauser in Resident Evil 4 remake is at the end of Chapter 11. Without spoiling too much, he’ll surprise challenge you to a duel. This is a knife fight, so you’ll want to be ready to parry his melee attacks. Likewise, watch out when Krauser somersaults, as he usually follows up with a stab or a sweep, which has to be evaded.
Whenever you see an opening, be sure to do a couple of quick slashes before going on the defensive once more. Should Krauser leap on top of you, mash the button prompt so you don’t get stabbed. If your knife breaks, you can pick up other knives on some boxes in the arena. After dealing enough damage to Krauser, he’ll leave. But he’ll be back later.
Mutated Krauser Boss Fight: Chapter 14
The next Krauser boss fight happens in Chapter 14. This is a lengthy encounter that takes you through the temple ruins. As such, it’s imperative that you avoid taking too much damage or using a lot of recovery items. You’re going to need them at the very end.
Mutated Krauser Phase 1
This phase of the fight is a gauntlet. Krauser will be in prime position to snipe you, so hide behind obstacles whenever you see the red laser. Pop out and shoot Krauser a few times, and he’ll jump down to attack. As usual, parry and evade his moves and deal some damage.
You’ll then have to chase him through the temple ruins. The first area is filled with laser tripwires, mines, bear traps, and turrets. Moreover, Krauser will show up periodically to surprise you, so stay on your toes to press the QTE button prompts.
Eventually, you’ll reach the ramparts, where Krauser will fire a rocket launcher repeatedly. The stone walls will negate one volley of damage, but they’ll get destroyed in the process. The metal barricade should be able to soak a lot of damage, enough to let you run to the exit while avoiding his grenades.
In the last section, Krauser will shoot at you again, but you can quickly blast him with your guns to force him to come down. Once more, you’ll have a melee battle.
Mutated Krauser Phase 2
Finally, you’ll arrive at the top of the ruins, where you’ll have your last confrontation with Krauser in Resident Evil 4 remake. He’ll transform, causing his arm to mutate.
- This is still a melee-focused encounter, where Krauser will beat you down with his mutant arm. Most of his moves can be parried or dodged, but beware of his grab attack where he’ll squeeze Leon’s head.
- Missing a prompt will often cause Leon to dangle off the edge. Mash the buttons onscreen so you don’t fall to your death.
- Krauser will often block bullets with his metal arm. Bait him into striking you, then parry. This can potentially stun him, leaving him wide open for a counterattack or shotgun blast.
- Whenever Krauser jumps up to the higher ledges, he’ll do a devastating ground slam. Climb up the ladder immediately to avoid its area-of-effect damage.
With a little luck, you should be able to beat Krauser in RE4 remake. You’ll earn the Fighting Knife for your efforts. It’s stronger and more durable than the Combat Knife, but we advise you not to upgrade it further. If you manage to destroy all 16 Clockwork Castellans, you’ll be able to unlock the Primal Knife, which becomes indestructible once you have its unique perk.
