Sonic Superstars: How to Disable Epic Online Service on Steam

Sonic Superstars on Steam is prompting players to sign into EOS, but you can disable those prompts by following these steps.

There’s no Steam user that likes to have to install and use additional launchers to play their games, and they especially don’t appreciate getting the Epic Store forced on them. Sonic Superstars launched on Steam with the Epic Online Service packed in for Battle Mode, and the game’s very keen on telling players to log into it. If you don’t want to bother with Battle Mode, you don’t have to. Let’s talk about how to disable the Epic Online Service in Sonic Superstars.

How to Disable Epic Online Service in Sonic Superstars on Steam

You don’t have to suffer through the Epic Online Services popups in Sonic Superstars if you don’t want to. I certainly don’t want to. Luckily, it’s easy to get rid of if you don’t mind poking around in the game’s files. There are a few different ways to get rid of it, but this is the one that’s a one-stop fix. Let’s just get into how to get rid of EOS, step by step:

  1. Right-click the game in your Steam Library, mouse over “Manage,” and click on “Browse local files.”
  2. Delete the EOS folder from the Sonic Superstars directory.
  3. Head into your Windows Control Panel.
  4. Click “Uninstall a program” and find Epic Online Services in the list.
  5. Uninstall Epic Online Services.

This method gets rid of EOS from your system and prevents the game from throwing notices at you to log into it. Though, again, this does disable access to Battle Mode. Battle Mode relies on Epic for online play, rather than Steam’s servers, meaning you won’t be able to play it without making an Epic account and logging into it in the game.

You may have to do the above again after Sonic Superstars gets its first patch on Steam, but for now, this is an easy way to disable the Epic Online Service prompts while you’re just trying to enjoy the Blue Blur’s latest foray.
