There are a variety of resources available to collect in Starfield, including tungsten. An uncommon inorganic material, it’s an important component for constructing outpost machinery. If you’re looking to build up extractors or access your supplies from space, you’re going to need the metal. Here’s where to find tungsten in Starfield.
How to Get Tungsten in Starfield
There are a few different ways to obtain Tungsten.
- Mine it.
- Purchase it.
- Use Console Commands.
Mine Tungsten
Mining tungsten yourself is the most cost-effective way to get the material. When you first start the game, you’ll be able to find tungsten in your travels and collect it with a Cutter. Planetary scans will show it as a W, with a single blue diamond signifying its uncommon rarity. If you’ve leveled up the Scanning skill, you’ll be able to see exactly where to find it on the planet. This allows you to land and start collecting it as soon as you’re planetside.
Another way to mine tungsten is to build an outpost with extractors. However, the resource is often found on planets with extreme conditions. This means you’ll need advanced Planetary Habitation to set up shop. Once you have a location, though, you can build a Solid Resource Extractor to collect all the tungsten it can. This machine does require some of the material to be built, as well as a power source, so make sure you have some components before starting your outpost.
Planets with Tungsten
Here are some planets that contain Tungsten.
- Nikola II in the Nikola system.
- Pluto in the Sol system.
- Titan orbiting Saturn in the Sol system.
- Groombridge II in the Groombridge system.
- Voss orbiting Olivas in the Alpha Centauri system.
- Bondar in the Alpha Centauri system.
Buy Tungsten
If you’re looking for a fast way to get tungsten, regardless of cost, then purchasing it from vendors is the route for you. A variety of merchants sell the metal, including:
- Midtown Minerals in Akila City.
- Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis.
- Mining League in Neon City.
- UC Exchange in Cydonia.
- General Store at Paradiso.
Sometimes, you can get lucky and Trade Authority locations will carry it, but it’s hit or miss.

Console Commands
If you’re looking for the fastest, cheapest, and easiest way to tungsten, you can employ console commands. Be aware that this can cause you to lose out on earning achievements, so proceed at your own risk. You can use these if you’re on PC and on Xbox. Here’s how to do so on console.
To get large amounts of the resource and barely lift a finger, this is what you want to do:
- Open the Console Commands prompt using the tilde (~) button (located to the left of the 1).
- Enter player.additem 0000556B [# of tungsten you want].
- Repeat, if necessary.
- Close out of Console Commands with the ~ button.
The amount of tungsten you gave yourself will show up in your inventory. This is best used when building an outpost and you run out of the resource, or in small quantities. Don’t want to fill up your carry capacity if you’ve still got a long way to travel.
