Best Hybrid Vocation for Each Playstyle in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The Hybrid vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 include the Mystic Spearhand, the Trickster, the Magick Archer, and the Warfarer. Each one mixes various base vocation playstyles into one class and provides a unique way to approach combat. So, which one should you pick based on your playstyle? I’ll also show you how to unlock all of them.

Why Play Mystic Spearhand in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Mystic Spearhand is for players who want a challenging yet rewarding melee character with offensive and defensive spell-like abilities. Despite focusing on melee combat, they’re not the tankiest class in the game so don’t expect Mystic Knight from the original Dragon’s Dogma. Instead, they dodge attacks with their skill-based Skiedragoun’s Fangtooth parry and block damage with a temporary Mirour Vesture shield buff.

As for offense, they can throw foes around the battlefield with telekinetic abilities and immobilize groups of enemies. Their core offense is tied to a couple of abilities that drain stamina for incredible damage, but they can also steal stamina from their foes to refill it. Pick this vocation if you want to mix melee and magic, but keep in mind that it’ll take a while to master the vocation since you need to rank up for essential defensive abilities.

How to Unlock Mystic Spearhand in Dragon’s Dogma 2

You unlock Mystic Spearhand by talking to Sigurd and asking about his fighting style. This is after the drake attack the second time you visit Melve. If you miss him here after the dragon attack he also appears in Harve Village in his Coastal Hut visible on the map.

Why Play Trickster in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Trickster is a unique illusionist class for players who don’t necessarily want to deal damage but want to fool and debuff enemies while buffing allies. The core of this class are skills like Effigial Incense, which creates an illusion figure that draws aggro away from you and pawns. You can also create illusionary platforms like cliffs and lure enemies to fall to their deaths.

Furthermore, players can even create illusions of enemies like Dragons with Dragon’s Delusion that scares away monsters. I highly recommend maxing out your pawn party with this vocation as your allies will actually be your main source of damage. Pick this if you want a creative support class.

How to Unlock Trickster in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Trickster is unlocked by talking to the illusion of Luz at the Reverent Shrine in Batthal, south of Rest Town. If you simply follow the path to Bakbatthal you’ll come across an escort quest that can take you to the Reverent Shrine.

Why Play Warfarer in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Warfarer is for players who want to mix the abilities from all vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 since they can use any weapon. They have a unique ability to switch weapons mid-fight and, therefore, use abilities from different vocations at the same time. Furthermore, their augments allow them to use less stamina on skills, allowing them to spam abilities much more frequently.

You can fight in melee with Fighter abilities in one moment and then quickly switch to bow and Archer skills from a distance. Warfarers can even use spells from the Mage list when needed.

How to Unlock Warfarer in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Warfarers are unlocked in the Volcanic Island region through Lamond. Specifically, by speaking to Lamond at the Geyser Hamlet south of the Volcanic Island camp and bringing him three Newt Liqueur curatives. I crafted all three from Fruit Wine and Saurian Tails so save your Fruit Wine so you don’t have to buy or fetch them.

Why Play Magick Archer in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Magick Archers is for players who want the best DPS in the game with quick AOE elemental-infused shots of burst damage. They’re much faster than Mages and Sorcerers since they can fire spell-like AOE arrow shots in seconds instead of incanting them.

You can pretty much take down Griffins yourself by shooting explosive Fire arrows at their wings. You don’t even have to aim your shots, as most abilities home in on enemies. Furthermore, Magick Archers also come with some support-based abilities like Remedy Arrow which can both heal and revive fallen pawns.

How to Unlock Magick Archer in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Similarly to the Warfarer, Magick Archers are unlocked in the Volcanic Island region. More specifically, they’re unlocked by completing the Put a Spring in Thy Step quest in the Volcanic Island Camp and talking to Cliodhna. While she’s not the quest giver she appears later in the quest. Additionally, there’s an alternative method if you miss the first one just like with the Mystic Spearhand. You can also unlock Mystic Archer by escorting Gautstafr and Cliodhna to Volcanic Island Camp in The Importance of Aiding Ernesto side quest in the Unmoored World.
