Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader — 10 Best Soldier Talents

So anyway, you started blasting. These are our Top 10 Soldier Talents in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.

Soldiers excel in dealing damage to multiple enemies around the battlefield and making multiple attacks in combat. To aid you in this, we’ve devised a wicked talent selection whether you’re a bolter, melta, or flame user. Here are our Top 10 Soldier talents in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader.

Unpredictable

Agility is a secondary stat for Soldiers. We want to prioritize the Ballistic Skill. However, a good Agility score brings a slew of benefits including Unpredictable’s critical hit chance gain. If you’re behind cover, which you should be capitalizing on, this bonus is doubled.

Alacrity

Speaking of Agility, this Soldier Talent boosts this characteristic for each shot fired. It works best with Burst Shot for incredible Agility gain, especially when you pop your Heroic Act. It combines perfectly with Unpredictable and other Agility-based talents.

Bullet Hell

One of the best Soldier playstyles, and the one I focused on for my Argenta, is prioritizing Burst Shot with weapons that have a high rate of fire like Bolters. This is an amazing Talent that boosts Rapid Fire, making it so it no longer reduces damage. Combine it with Muzzle Velocity for a hard-hitting AoE build.

Rapid Reload

Soldiers are all about firing tons of bullets through Run and Gun and Revel in Slaughter resets. This means that we’ll be running out of bullets often. Instead of losing a turn due to reloading, this Talent allows us to keep fighting after reloading.

Second Skin

We want to boost our defenses as much as we can on Soldiers. Second Skin makes it so that our medium armor doesn’t impose a Dodge penalty. It’s a perfect defensive Talent.

Trace the Trajectory

Since we’ll be playing around cover a lot, there’s a high chance enemies will miss us. When they do, we get a free critical hit against them. The best part is that this Talent doesn’t have a use limit, and it’s activated on each miss. Awesome.

Weapon Expert

Depending on your weapon choice, I advise picking up a Weapon Expert feat for armor penetration with bolters, extra maximum damage with melta, or -1 AP to attack with flamers. In case you opt for bolters, I recommend carrying around two in your loadout, a regular and heavy one to suit the situation.

Swift Slaughter

This is an exceptional Talent, especially in the early game. We’re highly dependent on minimizing the amount of time under the Winded status effect and refreshing Run and Gun as soon as possible. Swift Slaughter helps with this greatly, as two kills are drastically easier to score than three in the mid to late-game.

Fired Up

With all the bonus critical chance and guaranteed criticals in this list, increasing critical damage seems natural. What’s more, Fired Up does this passively as you fight. It takes a bit of time to get it rolling but in prolonged fights, this Talent truly shines.

Rack and Ruin

Whatever weapon you wield, you’ll be dealing damage to multiple enemies per turn. This is where Rack and Ruin comes in to grant you more damage for your next attack. All you have to do is deal damage to three different enemies whether this is from a Burst Fire or an area attack from a Flamer.

That’s my list of the Top 10 Soldier Talents in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader. Even with these, you may need more help in this massive CRPG that does the TTRPG justice.
