The Defective Servitors event is one of the many errands you’ll need to complete as Lord Captain of your Voidship. There are a couple of choices you can make in this quest that will dictate your Conviction progress. Here’s our Servitors decision guide for Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.
Which Choice Should You Make for the Servitors in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader?
I came across this errand as I was traveling through Act 1, specifically after finishing The Starport quest. You’ll need to return your ship, where some defective servitors require your final judgment. Speak with High Factotum Janris Danrok, who’s located on the bridge of your ship, just past the Starmap.
The important part here is to choose the “I wish to take a look at these servitors before deciding their fate” option. I don’t recommend choosing to dispose of them before investigating, as this will lock you out of the quest reward.
Additionally, you can bring Pasqal along with you for some additional dialogue that doesn’t affect the errand. From here, you’ll get a book to read about the Servitor event detailing phenomena about AI and sentience, and you’ll be faced with a few decisions. I recommend the following choices:
- Choose to disassemble one of the servitors to investigate their components.
- Choose to demand a report on the defective units.
How Does the Final Servitors Choicee Affect Conviction?
Essentially, the final choice of the errand is where you can either increase your Hereticus, Iconoclast, or Dogmatic rank:
- If you want to increase Hereticus, choose to examine the servitors.
- If you want to increase Iconoclast, choose the option to dispose of the servitors and release their human souls.
- If you want to increase Dogmatic, choose the option to send the servitors back to their work.
This is an interesting errand where you’ll be faced with the moral question of releasing semi-sentient servitors from their toil or forcing them back to work. Making the right servitors decision in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader can prove useful in multiple ways, depending on your playstyle.
