What are Cycles in Last Epoch?

When I logged in to Last Epoch 1.0, I was immediately faced with the decision to choose between my beta “Legacy” character or to create a new “Cycle” character. The question can be confusing, especially to new ARPG players. The TL;DR is that Cycles are LE seasons. Here’s what we can expect from LE Cycles.

Last Epoch Cycles Explained

Each Cycle will bring new content and features for players to play through, like a new competitive league. ARPG veterans will be familiar enough with this mechanic because we’ve seen it in Path of Exile and the Diablo series. So, to enjoy the new content and participate in the competitive Ladder, you’ll have to make a new Cycle character.

Legacy characters will always be available to play but will migrate to separate servers permanently. So, you won’t be able to play with a friend’s Cycle character with your Legacy character. When a Cycle ends, all of your current character’s items and currency will transfer to the Legacy game mode.

How Long are Cycles in Last Epoch?

Each Cycle will run for three to four months, so we’ll have roughly three to four Cycles per year. Throughout those months playing the season, the devs will undoubtedly work behind the scenes to rebalance abilities and polish the next Cycle. While it might seem inconvenient to start fresh every few months, I look forward to the opportunity to try out new classes and masteries. Cycles will keep me coming back for more in the long run.

That’s what Cycles are in Last Epoch. We’ve got plenty more guides for you to discover at our guides hub, like a full crafting guide, all masteries ranked, how character masteries work, and more.
