Best Feats for Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3

His vampiric abilities, combined with his Rogue class, allow Asatrion to fill many unique builds by taking different feats. Feats in BG3 provide powerful bonuses that can specialize your character in different roles. In Astarion’s case, his Rogue abilities like Sneak Attack and his supernatural abilities like Vampiric Bite allow him to fill a few niches.

With the Mobile and Dual Wielder feats, he can be a highly mobile skirmisher. Alternatively, he can become a sneaky ranged assassin with Sharpshooter and some Hand Crossbows. This is why feat selection for him is so important. Your choices can change his playstyle.

For example, Lae’Zel’s feats will usually mold her into a melee fighter, while Astarion’s feats allow him to switch from melee to range combat. Let’s analyze which feats are great for both playstyles and find the best one.

Vampiric Bite Focus

If you wish to build a melee skirmishing Astarion that utilizes Vampiric Bite, take these feats:

  • Mobile: As the name suggests, this feat provides Astarion with great maneuverability in melee combat. Not only is he faster, but you can retreat after attacking without provoking Attacks of Opportunity.
  • Dual Wielder: If you’re Two-Weapon Fighting, this is a natural choice. It allows you to dual-wield rapiers. Furthermore, the defensive boost is always useful if your hit-and-run tactics fail and you get attacked.

Ranged Sniper Focus

Furthermore, if a sniper-like ranged Astarion is more your cup of blood, take these feats:

  • Sharpshooter: This feat provides a drastic damage boost for any ranged build, but more so for Astarion. Take the Thief subclass for double bonus actions, dual-wield Hand Crossbows, and shoot multiple +10 damage attacks per round. A dip into Fighter for the Archery fighting style helps a lot.
  • Crossbow Expert: A great utility pick-up that grants you some extra attack options but, more importantly, it allows you to attack in melee without Disadvantage if you get caught.

Last but not least, the Ability Score Increase feat is always a priority since you want to max out your Dexterity as soon as possible. Honorable mentions include the Lucky feat, which can grant you automatic Advantage for triggering those Sneak Attacks in awkward situations.

What Feat Should You Give Astarion?

All in all, the best feat for Astarion is Mobile for a melee build and Sharpshooter for a ranged one. Furthermore, make sure to take the Ability Score Increase feat whenever you can to reach that 20 in Dexterity as soon as possible.

Now that you know the best feat for Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can go on being your best vampire self. Alternatively, if he’s one of your companions, he can now better support you in combat with these feats. For more, check out our other BG3 guides.
