How the Gacha System works in Wuthering Waves could help you decide if you want to play it at release.

How the gacha system works in Wuthering Waves could be a deciding factor when you’re determining whether you want to play this latest title from Kuro Game. Now that the game has officially entered its closed beta period, we have a better idea of how the current variation of its gacha system works.

Wuthering Waves: How the Gacha System Works

In Wuthering Waves, the gacha system is called Modulation. When entering Modulation from your menu, you’ll see the current banner. If you’ve played Genshin Impact, you’ll find that the pull rates are similar in Wuthering Waves.

  • Every 10 pulls, you’re guaranteed at least one Resonator / Weapon of Star 4 or higher.
  • Every 90 pulls, you’re guaranteed at least one Resonator / Weapon of Star 5 or higher.

You can find overall Modulation details in-game, which shows you the percentages for pulling different types. These are divided into the base rate and the overall rate with the latter including guarantees in the percentage.

The following breakdown of rates also includes Reverberating Wavebands, which you use to upgrade characters.

  • 5-Star characters have a base rate of 0.8% and an overall rate of 1.6%.
  • 5-Star character Reverberating Wavebands have a base rate of 1.7% and an overall rate of 1.6%.
  • 4-Star characters/weapons have a base rate of 6% and an overall rate of 13%.
  • 4-Star character Reverberating Wavebands have a base rate of 2.5% and an overall rate of 2.3%.
  • 3-Star weapons have a base rate of 89% and an overall rate of 81.5%.

Wuthering Waves lets you farm Tacetreite Vouchers and turn them into Modulation Keycodes, the currency that you use to pull. You can also purchase Modulation Keycodes using Commemorative Coins, which are tokens that you can earn from turning in Audio Caskets, which you’ll find from exploring.

And that’s the gacha system for Wuthering Waves in its current form. Since the game is in beta, it’s possible that changes to the system will be made in the future before its full release. In the meantime, however, you can check out our guides for Honkai: Star Rail, another gacha game that’s been recently released.
