Wuthering Waves Reroll Guide: Is Rerolling Worth It?

Gacha games are inherently games of chance, where what you want and what you get often come at the cost of a coin flip. Wuthering Waves is no different, but if you want a better chance at a strong start, you can “reroll” your account, starting fresh and using the introductory rewards to maybe get a better set of characters. But is rerolling in Wuthering Waves worth it, and if it is, how’s it done?

Should You Reroll in Wuthering Waves?

The first and most important thing to know about rerolling in Wuthering Waves is the time it takes and what you have to do each time. Every reroll takes at least 30 minutes and requires a new email address. It doesn’t seem like you can create throwaway emails as you can in other games, so unless you have a laundry list of email addresses, you’ll be making new ones pretty often, depending on your reroll luck.

For my money, because you get so many standard banner pulls right off the rip in Wuthering Waves, enrolling isn’t really worth your time. During the launch window, you get 30 free pulls in your mail, another 40 from one event, 10 from another event, plus all the pulls you can gain by progressing the game’s many systems.

More importantly, even though the beginner banner only costs 40 Lustrous Tide for a guaranteed 5-star, you’ll still need to get lucky and receive an early 5-star drop to really get the most out of the process. There’s also the guaranteed 5-star choice banner that ensures you get exactly the character you want off the standard roster, but that takes 80 pulls on top of the probably 40 you spent on the beginner banner, meaning a truly full reroll could take more than a dozen hours of grinding.

If you do have a Rolodex of emails to use and don’t mind spending a few hours in the (frankly rather dull) opening minutes of Wuthering Waves, don’t let me stop you from enrolling. While the chances at an early 5-star are slim, getting one or even two early in a single ten-pull isn’t unheard of.

How to Reroll in Wuthering Waves

As for the reroll process, it goes something like this:

• Create a new account and start the game.
• Progress until you meet Baizhi and face your first Tacet Discord.
• Continue north to the city of Jinzhou. Don’t worry about hunting for Echoes now.
• Head to city hall, meet Sanhua, then talk with Mortefi in the Academy.
• Collect any event rewards and Lustrous Tide items, and start pulling.

The whole process nets you 20 or 30 Lustrous Tide if you’re playing during the launch of the game, where there are tons of pre-registration rewards in your mail. You’ll need to spend a bit of extra time playing and exploring the game to get the final ten pulls to max out the beginner banner, and from there, you can decide if the 5-star you got there is worth your time.

You can also spend Oscillate Coral you get from your beginner banner pulls to buy Radiant Tide currency to spend on the limited event banner. If you’re exceptionally lucky, you might get the limited character in just a few pulls, putting you miles ahead of most other, less fortunate players.

A mostly complete reroll in Wuthering Waves will likely take you an hour or two at most if you want to maximize your chances at a good character. It’s about 30 minutes of uninteresting content to grind through if you just want to get in and out.

Because to really get the most out of the rerolling process, you’ll need to invest quite a bit of time, and you won’t have a chance to find out if you like one character over another, I don’t think it’s worth the effort. You’re better off spending even those 30 minutes exploring the game, learning the combat mechanics, seeing what characters you enjoy playing, and so on. Sure, there are best-in-slot, meta-level choices, even among the standard banner characters, but being a meta-follower isn’t necessarily the most enjoyable way to play a gacha game.
