The final Fallout 4 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. video has arrived. In the video, we find out, through countless Vault Boy executions, that having attributes from Strength to Agility is all well and good but are simply not enough to survive the wasteland this time around. One final peek into the “What makes you S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?” handbook tells us all we need to know.
Life and death are two sides of a coin in the wasteland.
Players should seriously consider the mysterious benefits of a good Luck attribute in Fallout 4. The strange ability could have an effect on anything… even random brahmin falling from the sky.
In reality, luck is a superstition, stemming from religious beliefs in deities, karma, etc. Luck can trick individuals into doing things they don’t usually do or act differently. People blame luck for good, or bad, things that happen to them. Fallout 4‘s Luck attribute might have the same effect.
In this S.P.E.C.I.A.L. video, we find out that Luck may stand in the way of a critical hit on an enemy, alter the loot that players scrounge up, and effect the amount and difficulty of enemies. Still, Luck is more of a fallback attribute. Players will need to invest their points in Charisma or Endurance, but Luck will provide small boosts to everyday interaction with just about everything in-game.
As long as “Lady Luck” is on a player’s side, they’ll find unique and valuable items more frequently, survive deadlier encounters, and ease through the game while others may find more challenge.
On a side note, the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Luck video really takes the time to point out that anything shiny could have hidden value. Make sure to hold on to anything unique!
Fans have around a month to figure out what makes them S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and prepare for wasteland survival. Fallout 4 releases on November 10th, 2015.
