With the PlayStation Meeting coming on February 20, there has been a lot of news going around about Sony’s next console. A new console is exciting, but another Vita model is quite the opposite.

Despite being an impressive piece of technology, the Vita’s game library leaves something to be desired. Why toss in a whole new model of a handheld that is — frankly — doing poorly and lacking in software? The concept of playing a Vita on an actual television is enticing, but we need actual games to take advantage of the new HDMI port.

The patent was filed with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office on February 7. Being so close to the PlayStation Meeting, it seems likely this new model will also be announced alongside the PlayStation 4.
