Dead Cells: How to Unlock the Zero Outfit

Prove your mastery of Hattori’s Katana to unlock the Zero Outfit from Dead Cells' crossover with Katana Zero.

The Return to Castlevania expansion isn’t the only Dead Cells DLC to drop in recent months, and the Zero Outfit is one of many items added to the perenially-popular roguelike that release way back in 2018. If you’re here, you’re wondering how to unlock this set of digs.

In 2022, the Everyone is Here Pack: Volume 2 introduced a number of crossover weapons and outfits from other indie hits like Hotline Miami, Shovel Knight, Risk of Rain, and Katana ZERO, the latter of which brings us the Zero Outfit.

But before you can use the Zero Outfit to dress up as Subject Zero in Dead Cells, you’ll first need to unlock the DLC weapon from Katana ZERO as well.

How to Unlock Hattori’s Katana

The Hattori’s Katana weapon can be found in the Stilt Village biome. The Blueprint is dropped by Weirded Warriors, the sword-swinging crab enemies.

On the off-chance you get a drop, the Blueprint lets you to purchase the Katana from the Collector for 60 Cells. Although, the low drop rate of this rare item means you’ll likely have to grind the Stilt Village biome over the course of multiple runs to get Hattori’s Katana.

How to Get the Zero Outfit

After you’ve purchased Hattori’s Katana from the Collector, you’ll need to do one thing to unlock the Zero Outfit. Equip the weapon and kill 15 enemies in a row with the Katana’s critical dash without getting hit

To critical dash, hold down the standard attack button after a swing. You’ll dash in the direction you’re facing and deal a guaranteed critical damage blow to any enemy in your way.

Since this attack has you passing through enemies and leaving yourself vulnerable, achieving this is easier said than done. We recommend attempting this in the Prisoner’s Quarters, as it’s the first and easiest area of any run.

And that’s how to unlock the Zero Outfit in Dead Cells, which you can use at any time and wear as you see fit. For more tips and unlockable walkthroughs, visit the Gameskinny guide hub for Dead Cells.
